For Readers of: Audio, Contemporary, Dual POV, Ghosts, Most Anticipated, Paranormal, Romance, YAA swoonworthy YA supernatural romcom where two academic rivals are trapped as ghosts to haunt the same house.
They’d kill each other… if they weren’t already dead.
Tessa Sinclair is a winner. Winner of spelling bees, science fairs, and scholarships. So when she finds herself unexpectedly dead after a graduation party in an abandoned mansion, she’s none too pleased. What’s worse, her academic rival—the Harvard-bound, Mr. Perfect Reed Walker—is there too, deceased, smug, and annoying as hell.
Being a ghost is hard enough, but it’s a thousand times worse having to haunt the same house with your nemesis. But as Tessa and Reed retreat to R.I.P in their respective corners of the mansion, a mystery unfurls about the exact cause of their deaths.
Though they’d rather die (again) than work together, they’ll need to find a way to overcome their differences to hunt down a murderer on the loose. And should they happen to fall for each other along the way… who ever said you can’t find love after death?
*MY THOUGHTS*
So when I first heard about this book, I was a little apprehensive. I haven’t read a paranormal romance book in a longgggggg time. But this one sounded like fun so I gave it a shot. This turned out to be so much more than what I was expecting.
I thought this book was going to be the usual paranormal romance but with the added bonus of enemies to lovers. And yeah, that’s what I got, but we also go so much more. Like I had no idea that this was going to also have some feminism, friendship, and terror. So yeah, basically, I loved it. Let me set the stage for you. I was part of the paranormal romance craze after that one book with the vampires showed up. I read SO MANY back then that I thought I was wiped out on them forever. Or at the very least I wouldn’t enjoy any of them the same way again lol But this was good. I want to say more, but spoilers. Just know that there’s more than your average in here lol
The writing style was so easy to get into. I fell into the story and basically binged it. I couldn’t stop listening to it. I usually take a physical book out to places, but I was lugging my AirPods everywhere because of this book. It was easy, it was interesting, and the mystery made me mad enough to want to know what happened, and that the person that was responsible got what they had coming to them. And it was so good! The only thing I had a problem with was the shadow things. They weren’t really explained well. Like where did they come from? What were they? Why did they act that way? I guess she did it that way to keep them mysterious, but it just made me confused because nothing was confirmed. She had questions and so did the ghosts before them. Idk, I was confused like they were lol
The mystery was the best part in this. I wanted to much to punch that SOB in the face. It’s not a huge mystery because it’s solved in the middle of the book, but even with that I was still engaged. It didn’t change anything for me tho. I was hooked. After the mystery is solved, there’s still the time where they’re trying to hurry and beat the clock before they had someone else that was a ghost. You’ll have to read it to know what I mean.
I’m so glad I gave this a shot even though I had some misplaced paranormal romance misconceptions. Definitely taught me to let old hurt go LOL Now this is going to be one of those books I recommend throughout the summer! I hope y’all pick it up!
Overall, I give this
