These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Summer Reading is here! When I saw this year’s theme I hated it. As a YA librarian, I was like wtf am I supposed to do with this?! Program wise we were good, but the book recommendations I was a bit iffy about. I know the adult librarians were also like wtf lol But after I sat and thought about it some and let my creativity run wild, I felt a lot better about it. And I even went and found some stuff for the adult librarians too. And today I wanted to talk about a few of them! In this one, these two paleontologists are racing to find a new fossil that one needs for vindication and the other is convinced is fake. This STEM romance seems like a can’t miss book that’s releasing in the middle of this year’s Unearth a Story. It’s Kismet really. Now I just need to get my hands on it lol (I have not read this yet!) [This is A and is out 7/28/26]
In this one, Alisha is a baker who makes desserts for her grandpa’s restaurant. But when a dinosaur bone shows up in her grandpa’s backyard, a Quentin Harris, a paleontologist, does too. They meet and fall in love over cookies and dinosaur bones. Can they dig deep and make sure their love prevails? Will they be able to unearth the love story that seems destined for them? I haven’t read this one either, but I’m going to soon! AND it’s Black Romance. Everything I love about a book. Idk why I haven’t read this already. Especially since I also liked her shark book! [This is A and is out now!]
If you’re looking for more paleontology books, there’s only a select few. There’s a ton of archeology books that are available tho, so try one of those as well. There’s a really good Latine series, another wild one that had a crazy ending, and another paleontologist one. (I have not read the last one but someone told me to check it out.) For more recs for SRP overall, check my Insta or the blog a couple days ago! I added some in both places!
Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

Are you participating in your library’s Summer Reading Program? Have you signed up or finished a book already? Let me know in the comments!
