Two for Tuesday: #LibrarianLife

These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: #LibrarianLife

Since this week is National Library Week, the 16th was National Librarian Day, and today is National Library Workers Day, I decided to use some books that were written by librarians. I thought this one was hella timely as well. Librarians are jacks of all trades, and today I wanted to spotlight those that are also authors! In That Librarian, you’ll meet Amanda Jones, the librarian who took care of the diverse books in her library even while being called disgusting and false names. She was harassed for trying to keep her inclusive collection together. She sued those harassing her for defamation and has urged others to join her. This memoir will show you all the ways book banners have tried and are currently trying to break librarians.

This is another non-fiction, but hella different than the other lolol This book is all about the practice of anthropodermic bibliopegy, or the practice of binding books in this most intimate covering… Human skin. Rosenbloom uses scientists, curators, and other librarians who helped her look into the the real on the books that are rumored to have this outer covering. It really is a weird af and crazy af subject, and I can’t wait to read it. I’ve been on hold for this for months lol

Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

More Books by Librarians!

I had NO IDEA that Jenny Han was a children’s librarian at one point. That was pretty cool. There’s a bunch more that I found as well, which I was surprised at. And I couldn’t talk about librarians who wrote books and not bring up the honorary chair of National Library Week, Mychal Threets! My little loves his book!

What about you? Have you ever read a book by someone who was once a librarian? Let me know in the comments!
