These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: It’s Ok to Not Be Ok
May is also Mental Health Awareness Month and I wanted to shine a light on two books that have mental health rep with the issue that I actually share with them. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that has OCD rep, but then suddenly I’ve read two! I know I used this book once already, but I thought it was ok to use since it’s dual POV? lol in this one, one of the characters thinks and exhibits symptoms of OCD. I won’t say who because spoilers, but I knew as soon as I started reading it. I recognized some of my own thoughts. [This is Adult and is out now!]
In this one, the FMC is also newly diagnosed with OCD. She goes to Greece and tries to ignore her diagnosis, but of course it’s something that you can’t outrun. Especially when your therapist is calling you all the time… I related so hard to think one because I too was that teen that tried to out run my OCD. I have Pure O (so none of the repetitions, just the obsessive thoughts) and my spirals and thought circles and late nights and needing help concentrating was completely shown in this book. I felt so seen! [This is YA and is out now!]
Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.
MORE BOOKS WITH MENTAL HEALTH REP

I wanted to shine a light on some books with mental health rep that have other types depicted as well: Score by Kennedy Ryan has bipolar rep, Anxietyland has anxiety (which I’ve since learned can be under neurological or mental health rep), there is also an Eating Disorder and internalized homophobia in One Word, Six Letters by Adib Khorram, and in the upcoming book Shook by Julian Randall there’s depression after an injury and anxiety with panic attacks as well.

Will you pick up one of these? Have you heard of either of them? Let me know in the comments!
