Two for Tuesday: Horror Books that I Didn’t Know Were Diverse Before I Added Them to my TBR!

These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: Horror Books that I Didn’t Know Were Diverse Before I Added Them to my TBR!

If you know me, you know I make my priority TBR based on the qualities of the book. And one thing that’s always going to be important to me is whether or not the author/main character is from a marginalized group. The next thing I look at is whether or not it’s actually something I’d like to read. So this one is a horror book with a Jewish twist. I saw golem and that was all I needed to see. I was hella excited lol So now I have to twiddle my thumbs until I have this in my hands. Because I need it NOW!

As for this one, I didn’t know this was Japanese inspired. And to hear it’s like a mix of Jumanji or something? EXCUSE ME?! I didn’t need to hear anything more than that lol I added this to my TBR so quickly lol I don’t have any idea what part of this is Japanese inspired, but I don’t want to look it up quite yet tho. I’m so interested in learning more about about it tho. I’m definitely going to relish the fact that I’ll be learning some things from a horror novel. People love to say you can’t learn anything from fiction, but you can learn something anywhere. Even in horror books.

I know I said two, but this is one that I actually read, so this doesn’t really count. This one is actually Sapphic and I really enjoyed it. And there’s also a ghost involved? Idk this was so good and I really want everyone to pick it up if this sounds like their jam!

Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two three books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the book. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

What books have you read that was diverse and you didn’t know it was? Will you read these? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ooh nice! I was actually eyeing all three of these! They all sounded spooky and had me intrigued! The second one had me thinking of another book I read where teens were sucked into a game and had to face their nightmares! Marshall’s book was already on my list since it’s by Kate Alice Marshall! Still need to pick up a copy of that but none of my bookstores had it and I keep forgetting to sit down and order it!
