This week’s topic is:

Top 10 Halloween Freebie: Books that Remind me of Classic Halloween Movies!

  1. There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins & Scream: Slasher book for a slasher movie! Neither one of them was really scary to me, but definitely ones I will remember!

2. These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling & The Craft: Because elemental witches. These Witches Don’t Burn isn’t as “creepy” as The Craft, but I still thought the witchy theme was still a good enough parallel.

3. Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall & The Blair Witch Project: This movie was so weird! But then again, so was this book. I also like this as a comparison because Blair Witch was told in a weird format, where someone is recording, and Rules for Vanishing is told in police reports and more.

4. The Haunted by Danielle Vega & Paranormal Activity: Haunted houses man, haunted houses. And these are similar because they’re both houses I’d never stay in lol

5. Amity by Micol Ostow & The Amityville Horror: This book is based on this movie, so this of course this is the pairing I made. I have only seen the movie, so I can’t say if this was any good, but eh it’ll do.

6. Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake & The Curse of La Llorona: Books and movies about ghosts. And both of them are frightening, but still seemed like they had some legit reasons to do what they did.

7. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins & Hotel Transylvania: Man listen, both of these are hilarious. And there’s multiple paranormal things in both these too, so I thought this worked really well together.

8. Hocus Pocus: the Sequel by A.W. Jantha & Hocus Pocus: I didn’t read the sequel, but if it’s anything like the movie, it’s got to be good right?

9. Dread Nation by Justina Ireland & Warm Bodies: This isn’t the book that this movie is based on, but still…. I think this book is better than Warm Bodies lol

10. None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney & The Silence of the Lambs: I haven’t seen the movie in a LONG time, but after just reading the book, I think it worked well. From what I remember anyway. I will admit I need to re-watch it before I can make a good decision, but for now, it works.

This wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. But having done the candy and costumes already, I knew I had to do something else creative. What movies remind you of a YA book? Let me know in the comments!

  1. OOoh nice! I love this topic and the matching of books to movies that I would never ever watch! Lol! Still love the theme though. I can read scary books and have loved quite a few of these, but I stay far away from the movies! It’s weird, but I feel like I can handle scary better in books than movies. Movies will give me nightmares! Lol.

    Here’s my Tuesday Post
