Bookish Places I’ve Visited

I went to the Houston Rodeo and was able to find some of the Little Free Libraries that I helped to fill with my husband. His committee was in charge of filling those things and I saw one and HAD to get a picture. I was glad to see people using them and taking books that caught their eye!

So last year (2025) I was able to present at ALA for the first time. And it was amazingly in Philadelphia, where my favorite NFL team is. And I went to go talk about sports stories. I call that Divine Timing lmao And we had such a fun talk too! It was amazing! My first time in Philadelphia was crazy fun!
I’m going to count this as ALA and TLA too. Because I was here, but I was getting all the books while I was there. And that’s what I do every time I go to librarian conferences lol

Anytime we make a new library anywhere. This is our newest satellite location. We have more shelves and books in there now, but this was the bare bones. I loved the place and mission, for this one, so this was pretty cool.

I kept finding myself in so many different places with authors that I adore. Like Jasmine Guillory, Libba Bray, David Levithian, THE Sarah Dessen, THE DeAndra Davis, and THE Elizabeth Acvedo!

Probably the coolest thing I’ve done since I’ve become a librarian lol I got to go to Obama’s library and I got a card from there too!

Ayo I was on a National reading list committee. Surely it couldn’t get better than this right?!

My favorite Black owned bookstore in Houston, Kindred Stories! They always have all of my favorites there and I couldn’t be more thankful! (This is me hugging Kristina Forest for the first time while showing all 32! lmfao)

This hasn’t happened yet, BUT as of yesterday I won one of the spots to go to Danielle Allen’s Sidelines game. I will be joining them for a game in DC! Y’all I’m so lit! I can’t wait!

I was able to go to New York Public Library and get a pic with the famous lions. I cried because this was on my bucket list for SO LONG. +10 points if you know which one this is and why I wanted to go see this one lol

And lastly I’ve found myself at multiple movie premieres. And funnily enough, I was in shock every time, like it was the first time. (I mean it was to see that specific movie, but not from having that experience lol The top 2 I went to were The Hate U Give and Love, Simon!)

What about you? Have you seen any of these on my social media? Have you been to any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Oh wow! That is soooo cool! I should have included some bucket list items as NYC is definitely one of them! I’d love to see the library and the lion statues and especially the Alice in Wonderland statues in Central Park! I forget which book those popped up in, but they did and I have wanted to see them ever since! Lol. Great list of places! These are sooo cool!
