For Readers of: Audio, Contemporary, Most Anticipated, Mystery, Realistic Fiction, Thrillers, YAThe New York Times bestselling author of The Counselors delivers a razor-sharp murder-mystery set during the summer when a local teen’s suspicious death exposes the devastating secrets three sisters keep.
Do you ever really know the people you love?
For the Gold sisters and Silver brothers, life has been idyllic, growing up in side-by-side waterfront mansions in a town where doors are never locked and the police do little more than issue speeding tickets. The Golds and Silvers have known each other their entire lives, as neighbors, as friends, as family.
But one carefree summer takes a dark turn when a beach party ends in tragedy and their perfect world cracks wide open. Suddenly, the bonds that tie these families together are strained by suspicion and fear. Painful secrets surface, revealing the fragile truths they’ve all been hiding.
Lucy, the oldest Gold girl, harbors a crushing secret from her boyfriend, one of the Silver boys. Millie, the middle sister, quietly yearns for the one person she can’t have. And the youngest, Frankie, uncovers something that could blow their island apart.
From New York Times bestselling author Jessica Goodman, comes a gripping novel about the lies friends tell, the façade siblings build, and how one summer tests—and breaks—the bonds of family.
*MY THOUGHTS*
This was a wild ride lol Not so much in terms of thrillers, but in terms of mess lol But the way it was written was also pretty cool. With all the plot twists being the secrets, it was really hard to see how these people had been friends so long lol
This was a mess. I don’t know how to explain it. I think I’ve read too many thrillers because I called the twist. But I did NOT call what actually happened to that one person. I was actually kind of annoyed with that lol I was expecting Goodman to have something that made me say, “WTF!,” but no. It wasn’t terrible but I think I would have liked it more had I not guessed it. Does that make sense? But even still, I thought it was entertaining. That’s how I know Goodman is the truth. I may have guessed it, but I also couldn’t stop reading it.
The writing style was fun! I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where every chapter ended on like a cliff hanger and then it moved you on to the next person. Idk, it was pretty cool. It basically made it where I couldn’t stop reading at any time. And the way the different secrets helped move the plot was cool. I don’t think I ever would have thought to do that.
I don’t want to say much about it because of the way it’s written, but just know you might guess the plot twists, but it’s because you’ve probably read a few of them. But please know that you will also be entertained still. So all in all this book goes well with literally anything and I hope you all will pick it up and give it a try.
Overall, I give this
