A Walk to Remember meets Everything We Never Said in this heartbreaking and swoony YA love story about a girl whose summer of love takes a devastating turn.
When Sera Watkins and her family arrive at their summer house on Cape Cod, she has one goal in mind: protect her heart from the boy who broke it, her next-door neighbor, Luke Tisdale. The problem is, Luke still has a piece of her heart—literally. When Sera received a new heart as a baby, the healthy valves of her old heart were given to Luke. Forever bonded, Luke and Sera grew up together, spending sun-soaked days swimming at their secret beach and painting at art camp.
Then, two summers ago, their friendship almost turned into something more. Key word: almost. Because one fateful night, everything changed. Sera’s health took a turn for the worse. A family secret sent Luke spiraling. And they weren’t there for each other when it mattered the most.
Now, Sera is ready for a fresh start, which means no more pining over the boy next door. But Luke has grown up a lot since she’s seen him, and the chemistry she felt two summers ago? It’s still there. Sera isn’t sure she’s brave enough to risk it all again, but when she gets some difficult news, she realizes there’s no time to waste. Maybe it’s finally Luke and Sera’s moment, their chance to enjoy the sweet kiss of summer together—before it’s too late.

*MY THOUGHTS*

You know it’s bad when the book has a tear jerker warning on it. I didn’t think it was that bad, but that was my first mistake. I didn’t take heed to the warning and then there I was, stuck bawling my eyes out lol I am a hot mess.

Ok so the number one thing about this that I liked was the ending. I will just say I didn’t see it coming. I was shocked, confused, mad, and so much more. I was working when I heard that part LOL I was so mad I went and told my husband about it. It was a hot mess. But I understand why it happened. But I also don’t? Ugh I want to say what happened but spoilers. Just know that it was good and to have your tissues near by. And make sure the box is full.

The characters were cute. Luke was too grown for his age lol He was so sweet and I was sad that he had to witness some of the things he did with his family. He didn’t deserve all of that. His dad? Yeah I had some words for him. And then there was Sera. I was mad at her for a long time LOL She had been pining for him for so long, but then when it finally came down to it she still said no! She wasted so much time. And I knew she said it was precious to her. I felt so bad for the both of them. I also got mad at her because they both had the same thing at the beginning of life. How did she know that he wouldn’t ever need help again too? She was just making decisions for the both of them. But their romance was cute. I thought they were adorable together. But y’all know I’m a sucker for friends to lovers. And this one was worth it.

This was good. Surprising and shocking and good. I will say be careful tho. If you’ve heard this was a tear jerker, you might find yourself waiting for the shoe to drop to see if you’ll cry, but please don’t do what I did. Get lost in the story and enjoy it. You’ll know when it happens. And that will make your reaction all the most genuine.

Overall, I give this
