One Christmas wish, two brothers, and a lifetime of hope are on the line for hapless Maelyn Jones in In a Holidaze, the quintessential holiday romantic novel by Christina Lauren, the New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…but not for Maelyn Jones. She’s living with her parents, hates her going-nowhere job, and has just made a romantic error of epic proportions.
But perhaps worst of all, this is the last Christmas Mae will be at her favorite place in the world—the snowy Utah cabin where she and her family have spent every holiday since she was born, along with two other beloved families. Mentally melting down as she drives away from the cabin for the final time, Mae throws out what she thinks is a simple plea to the universe: Please. Show me what will make me happy.
The next thing she knows, tires screech and metal collides, everything goes black. But when Mae gasps awake…she’s on an airplane bound for Utah, where she begins the same holiday all over again. With one hilarious disaster after another sending her back to the plane, Mae must figure out how to break free of the strange time loop—and finally get her true love under the mistletoe.
Jam-packed with yuletide cheer, an unforgettable cast of characters, and Christina Lauren’s trademark “downright hilarious” (Helen Hoang, author of The Bride Test) hijinks, this swoon-worthy romantic read will make you believe in the power of wishes and the magic of the holidays.

*MY THOUGHTS*

Even though I had an ARC of this, I waited because I wanted to read this when I was in more of a holiday mood. But as it turns out, I didn’t really need to be in a holiday mood. It mentioned the snow and some games or decorations, but nothing specific to Christmas. (Well to me anyway)

Mae is not loving her life right now. She has a job she hates, she lives with her parents, and she is single because she’s done something she can’t really take back. And now she’s also losing her family’s cabin, where they’ve gone to celebrate her favorite time of year for as long as she can remember. But just when she’s about to snap, she wakes up to do the holidays at the cabin all over again. Can Mae make the necessary changes to make sure all these things happen again, but in a way she wants them to?

The number one best thing about this was the humor. I ALWAYS actually LOL whenever I read a Christina Lauren novel. They are HILARIOUS. (Still nothing tops The Unhoneymooners bahaha) This one was also super funny. Even my husband caught some of the audio and chuckled. And he doesn’t think anything is funny.

Also, I wish someone had told me this had some holiday cheer, but it wasn’t filled with it. Like I could have read this before it’s release. I wouldn’t have waited. There was snow and mention of games they play, but for the most part it was focused on Mae and all her crazy (because there was alot). But don’t get me wrong, I would still count it as a Christmas story, but it was more romance than holiday focused I mean.

The characters were great. I loved Mae. She reacted the exact way I thought I might if I were in that situation. It would drive me bat shit if I knew this was happening by everyone thought I was crazy. I have to admit though, I would try the lottery instead of trying to fall in love lol As for her love interest, I thought he was pretty basic. Nothing exactly swoon worthy really happened until the end.

The romance was a bit underwhelming. I thought it was going to go a different way at the beginning, and that’s what I was excited for. But when it finally got to the romance, it went to the cardboard person. I was hoping to see some character development and see how she would realize she’d been wrong all those years. I just think it would have made for a better story. I’m not saying it wasn’t good, but I just think a plot twist could have made it a bit better.

This was a classic Christina Lauren rom-com with a twist of holiday spirit. Full of swoons and LOLs. I would have preferred a different ending, but overall, it was still an enjoyable read.

Overall, I give this
