Imogen Scott may be hopelessly heterosexual, but she’s got the World’s Greatest Ally title locked down.
She’s never missed a Pride Alliance meeting. She knows more about queer media discourse than her very queer little sister. She even has two queer best friends. There’s Gretchen, a fellow high school senior, who helps keep Imogen’s biases in check. And then there’s Lili—newly out and newly thriving with a cool new squad of queer college friends.
Imogen’s thrilled for Lili. Any ally would be. And now that she’s finally visiting Lili on campus, she’s bringing her ally A game. Any support Lili needs, Imogen’s all in.
Even if that means bending the truth, just a little.
Like when Lili drops a tiny queer bombshell: she’s told all her college friends that Imogen and Lili used to date. And none of them know that Imogen is a raging hetero—not even Lili’s best friend, Tessa.
Of course, the more time Imogen spends with chaotic, freckle-faced Tessa, the more she starts to wonder if her truth was ever all that straight to begin with. . .

*MY THOUGHTS*

Lordt I was so hype for this! Albertalli has been on my radar since she wrote Simon, so every time there’s a new one I’m excited all over again! But this is the first time I think I’ve given one of her books less than 4 stars. Which SUCKS because she said this one was so personal to her. I felt so bad that I didn’t like it as much as the others.

The reason I didn’t care for this one as much was all the text messages. Because it was constant texting back and forth, I fell out of the story having to read their usernames all the time. Yes I could have not, but I didn’t want to get them confused. Because their voices were very similar. Idk I needed more actions, more things happening. But with all the texting it was like all dialogue and that made it boring to me.

Other than that, the characters were still great. We learn so much about them since we’re constantly reading their conversations. Because of that, we got to watch their flirting front row and center and I really enjoyed that. When I tell you Becky Albertalli knows how to write some cute ass characters y’all! Being in Imogen’s head was such a wild ride lol She was adamant that she was straight and just an ally, so it was interesting watching her discover herself like she did. I was cheering for her all the way. Now, not all of them were good. I hated that one person. I just knew that someone was going to tell them off. I was so happy when they finally did. To be honest I wanted more. They were a terrible friend and didn’t really deserve to be finding out anything about Imogen and her life. By them questioning Imogen all the time, she erased an entire identity for those that are questioning. And that completely rubbed me the wrong way because at one point that was me.

The romance was cute! They flirted non-stop! I knew who Imogen was going to end up with from the beginnning. I was so happy they did get together too. Because I was rooting so hard for them. I do wish they were hanging out/ kissing more than them just texting tho. Then when they finally get it together, the book ends. I just wanted to see them together more. It was adorable!

There wasn’t much that I would change, however, that one part was a huge part of the story. I had a difficult time getting completely into the story because of it, but I was still hella attached to the characters. This one was a doozy, but it still wasn’t my favorite Albertalli.

Overall, I give this
