In this irresistible story, Kasie West explores the timeless question of what to do when you fall for the person you least expect. Witty and romantic, this paperback original from a fan favorite is perfect for fans of Stephanie Perkins and Morgan Matson.
When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.
Only he doesn’t come. No one does.
Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

*MY THOUGHTS*

Most of my followers know that I am basically a Kasie West groupie and I always try to read anything she writes. So, it came as no surprise that when I heard of this one I hurriedly added it to my TBR. And then to find out that it was about two people who are stuck in the library?! YES. PLEASE. So, naturally I needed to read this.
“Twelve hours trapped in a library and you’re already a survivalist.

pg. 39

Autumn is accidentally locked in the library without a bag or anything to help her get out. Then out of nowhere, she finds out that someone else is trapped there with her. Unfortunately, it’s the dangerous guy whom everyone whispers about, Dax. As they wait it out in the library, they find out more about each other than they ever thought they would.
“You’re blackmailing me for information. Let’s call it sharing between friends.

pg. 83

Well, I can start by saying this isn’t your typical West fluffiness. To be honest, it was ALOT less fluffy than I anticipated. It got really dark really fast…. And since I wasn’t used to that in West’s books I felt it kind of weird. Not in a bad way, just in a “I really wasn’t expecting that” kind of way. However, I was a bit disappointed because at the time I wanted a really fluffy read, and this one didn’t cut it.
“Socks. Maybe I can borrow a pair of your socks. For your ears? I smiled. For my feet

pg. 86

Another thing I didn’t really care for were the characters. To be honest, there’s only two of them that I did like, Dax and Autumn. Her family was cool, but her brother was just random and her mom and dad were just “there.” Everyone else was really ditzy and the others were just jerks. The entire bunch of them annoyed me.
Why do you care what people think so much.

pg. 117

But, I did like the setting. I mean, DUH, it’s a library. Although, I really wish since she was trapped there in the library that she loved to read or at the very least been excited about being around all the books. Had it been me stuck there, this story would’ve been so very different lol
“Yes, it’s family only, cousin Autumn.

pg. 156

Lastly, I did love the bit about her illness. I know first hand what something like that can do to someone. I know first hand about the pressure of wanting to be treated the same. And although I got frustrated with her that she let it get that far, I remember being the same way at one point as a teen. So thankful that I never let it get to me as she did.
“How do you make money for bus fare? The old fashioned way. Holding up train conductors? Robbing banks?

pg. 272

Overall, West is still one of my favorite contemp authors and I’m alreay looking ahead to her next one! Kasie West will always be one of my favorites!
(Real rating 3.5 but I rounded up!)
