Do you think contemporary book covers lack originality??
No. Because they have real people on the cover. I don’t think they lack originality. There’s people, there’s the scenery, so many things you can do with it and so many artists and so many styles, etc. Just like any other kind of books. They’ve been done before, and the cover probably has too.

That’s a good point. For me it’s just a genre thing. The covers just look “ordinary” and that’s because (to me) the story itself is ordinary. I need more fantasy and paranormal in my stories to be interested in it. I will admit though that a lot of these bookish romance stories have covers that always have me turning my head! Lol. I still don’t read them because I know it’s not going to be something I enjoy, but I love a good bookish cover!
