After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.
To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.
The hotly anticipated sequel to the New York Times and IndieBound bestseller Serpent & Dove—packed with even steamier romance and darker magic—is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas.

*MY THOUGHTS*

Idk what happened with this one. I think it was how long it was? The fact that I remembered absolutely nothing from the first one? (I read it more than a year ago!) Or it could be that ending that I despised…. Whatever the case may be, I was not exactly a fan of this.

In this sequel to Serpent and Dove, there’s more romance and it got alot more intense and a lot darker than the first. They are all on the run from the witches and chasseurs, but they know they won’t win this fight alone. So they split up and try looking for those that might help them. Can they outwit Morgane at her own game?

Ok, so first things first…. Can we please get a recap?! Or at least point us somewhere that we can read it before the next book comes out? Because I remembered absolutely nothing from the first book. I had to research a Recaptains post so I could figure out what happened after I finished the book. It wasn’t great and I probably should have done it before I read the book, but man if it was in the book, it would have been so much easier.

As for the romance, yes it was steamier, but it was few and far between. I was super excited to see what would happen between the two of them in this book since it was supposed to be a duology, but I’m guessing since it’s now a trilogy, she separated them even more so they could find each other in the last book. I guess because I was expecting that to be in this book, it was a bit disappointing to see them so angry and withdrawn from each other in this one.

The ending itself was so good. The writing style was still amazing and still kept me glued to the page. (Speakers? I DID listen to this as audio lol) But just like the other book, she did get a bit long winded again. I mean this book is 500+ pages? This could have been cut down in some places. But then when it got to the end, end, I was not a fan. Semi spoiler? After all the things she did, they let it go? It basically changed this book from a great ending to a duology to a slumpy sophomore book because there was no real ending.

I still liked the characters (even if they weren’t being themselves) and I still liked her writing style, so I don’t want to say I just hated it. I will still read the next book, since it’s the final book in the series, and I need to know what happens between the two of them and what this cliff-hanger actually means. I have to know why she decided that was the way to go.

Overall, this wasn’t my favorite, but I did like it. This book suffered from the sophomore slump, but I’m still ready for the last one. I say you read this one and be your own judge. But READ A RECAP OR DO A RE-READ FIRST. Trust me, you will need it!

Overall, I give this
