Two for Tuesday: Love at First Set!

These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: Oddly Specific!- Love at First Set!

As a sports lover, I was hella excited to see a different sport other than hockey and now F1. ESPECIALLY when it’s been women in sports. So when I saw these two books about volleyball, I LOST it! I had to get both of these in my hands immediately. Come to find out, these were almost the same book! lol In this one Ellie is new to beach volleyball. She goes to a camp and is not having the best time. It gets worse when she’s paired with a prodigy, Sierra. They find that they have more in common than they thought…. This sapphic sports romance is a sweet story of finding yourself and love along the way. Also, this is just a me thing, but I loved the way they portrayed volleyball in this. It was obviously a big part of the story, but there was still a lot of teaching and rule and fundamental talk. I’m hoping someone new to volleyball picks this up, reads it, and loves it. [This is YA and is out now!]

This one is still on my TBR (I’m hopelessly waiting for an audio lol) But in this one rival players compete to win a volleyball championship. This sapphic story is set during the summer and is a cute rom com of enemies to lovers. I might just have to go ahead and read it because I can picture the tension now when they’re facing each other on the court but falling for each other at the same time! From the part that I did read, they were kinda close in plot too. One of them is effortlessly good, and the other is gaining confidence. Talking about this really made me want to pull this out without the audio. I need to know what happens now! Also, this cover is so stinking cute. I think I like the colors more than anything. And maybe it’s just me, but I think the font or calligraphy was really good too. [This is adult and is out now!]

Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

These aren’t sapphic, but they do all feature volleyball players, and that’s 1000% my goal, getting more eyes on books with women in sports. The first two aren’t out yet, the third is A and also a hockey romance, and on the second row, the first and third are YA and out now. The middle one isn’t out yet, but has volleyball and a Dungeons and Dragons type game. So go pick up one, read it, and pick up another!

What about you? Have you read either of these? Will you pick one of them up now? Let me know in the comments!
