Waiting on Wednesday: 6/6/12

This meme is hosted by Breaking the Spine and it gives light to those books that we are waiting patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) for!
This week, my WoW is dedicated to the contemporary kick that I’m randomly on (If you know me, you know I usually don’t read it unless there is some sort or paranormal character or some sort of dystopian world…) and the fact that its ironically Contemporary Month around the blogosphere. Here are a couple straight contemporary books that are by authors I have read, or plan to read in the near future.
Isla and the Happily Ever After
by Stephanie Perkins
Expected Publication: 2013

Isla and the Happily Ever After is the final companion to Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Sadly there is no synopsis or cover, but that does not stop me from being excited. I LOVED St. Clair and I also loved Lola and her story. Perkins helped get me out of the no contemporary funk.

Untitled (Fullriders #1)
by Simone Elkeles
Expected Publication: 2013

NYT bestselling author of the Perfect Chemistry series Simone Elkeles’ first two books in her FULLRIDERS series, about high school football players from diverse backgrounds who seem to have gotten a “full ride” in life but whose lives are more complex than they seem, finding love where they least expect it and managing personal challenges on and off the field.

Sadly again there is no synopsis or cover, just another author that changed my views of contemporary YA with their previous stories. If you know me, you know that I gush and fan girl about the Perfect Chemistry series all the time and I can’t wait to see what she gets when she brings in romance and my favorite sport!

Stealing Parker
by Miranda Kenneally
Expected Publication: October 1, 2012

Parker Shelton pretty much has the perfect life. She’s on her way to becoming valedictorian at Hundred Oaks High, she’s made the all-star softball team, and she has plenty of friends. Then her mother’s scandal rocks their small town and suddenly no one will talk to her.

Now Parker wants a new life.

So she quits softball. Drops twenty pounds. And she figures why kiss one guy when she can kiss three? Or four. Why limit herself to high school boys when the majorly cute new baseball coach seems especially flirty?

But how far is too far before she loses herself completely?

Companion to CATCHING JORDAN
Ok, so I know I haven’t read Catching Jordan yet, but that’s actually next on my list… I’m visiting the library tomorrow and that’s what I plan to get.
So, if you have any other contemporaries that are out that you would like to recommend, if you know of any good ones coming out, or if you just want me to visit your WoW, leave me a comment and I definitely will!

  1. I cannot wait for the 3rd companion novel to Anna and The French Kiss. I loved Anna & Lola and the Boy Next Door. They really made me fall in love with Contemporary YA.

Also really want to read Catching Jordan and Stealing Parker. Everyone I know gushes over Catching Jordan.

  2. I am looking forward to reading all of these!

I read an ARC of Such A Rush by Jennifer Echols and I really liked it. It comes out July 10. Actually, I have read and enjoyed all of her books.

  3. I have yet to read anything by Jennifer Echols but my library only has one book by her that seems to stay checked out. But I have heard a lot of great things about Such a Rush. Hopefully I'll be able to read it soon.
