Two for Tuesday: We Need Diverse Books Day + Right to Read Day!

These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: We Need Diverse Books Day + Right to Read Day

This week is doing a lot lol I’ll admit I couldn’t make a decision, so I just did two at once. And I actually don’t hate it? lol I want to make sure that we all know about the coming days, so I decided to blend these two together. And tbh I can say I don’t feel bad about talking about Diverse Librarians. (I mean just yesterday they decided to move forward with putting IMLS staff on leave, which we know what that means…..) But in this first one, I haven’t read it yet, but it sounds so good. (Yes I still have it on hold lol) This is the story of Belle Marion Greener, J. P. Morgan’s personal librarian. And to accomplish all that she did, all she had to do was make sure to keep one secret. The secret that she was Passing…… If this isn’t a testimony of having to work 3x’s as hard then Idk what is.

This one is a romance with a plus size, Mexican American librarian. I loved this even more because of the setting. It’s set in my home state. So immediately yes lol I wasn’t a huge fan of the messy that was this book, but I still enjoyed it. I loved that there were a few looks into her bookish life too. And no I’m not being biased because I recognized the books she was talking about. I genuinely liked the library stuff. So much so I wondered if she was an actual librarian once because it was all accurate. Very cute, but also very accurate.

Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

For More Librarians in Books:

If you’re wondering, I didn’t make these only diverse because I wanted to also spotlight Amanda Jones, who is one of the most courageous people I’ve heard about. Please read this book if you haven’t!

Have you heard of these two? Did you know they were both about amazing librarians, one of them who was based on a real person? Let me know in the comments!
