These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!
Today’s Theme: True Crime in (fictional) Media!
Call me morbid, but I LOVE True Crime! I REALLY love the cold cases that are re-opened and solved by the new DNA practices or just on the off chance that something changes in the case. It’s interesting to me to see the things they might have overlooked back then and how they found out the truth in the present. Now I haven’t finished this sapphic YA novel yet, but this one features a podcast that features a polarizing episode of a missing girl…. After another goes missing. Technology or podcasts are beginning to become a trope in thrillers and I love it!
In this one the “polarizing” media talking about true crime is a show. I put polarizing in quotes because it’s not actually polarizing lol So far in what I’ve read there’s only one person who doesn’t like the show. And that’s the main character. This one also involves a cold case, but the cold case is restarted and comes back??? And it is more of a slasher. I don’t know why I decided to read a thriller and horror at the same time, but here we are. I have too much going on lol
Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the book. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.
What about you? Do you like True Crime stories? Fiction or Non-Fiction? Which one of these will you add to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
