These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!
Today’s Theme: Grieving Siblings
Today’s theme is for Mental Health Awareness Month. Both are dealing with grief and the loss of a sibling. Well a lot more. In both of these books, there is a grieving sibling. They’re grieving because their brother or sister committed su!cide. Not only are they left questioning why, but they are also questioning how they’re supposed to go on. And one thing I wanted to make sure to make note of with these stories, is to remember that these stories are about Karmen and Helen. The people in their stories/lives seemed to forget that.
I thought it was interesting seeing the way they chose to grieve too. In one, she took everything in and tried to find why he did what he did. She tried everything, including dressing up like him. But we don’t always get those answers. Especially not clear cut and dry. And in the other, she hated the person who was unwillingly involved with her sister. And it wasn’t fair, but grief doesn’t think and it doesn’t judge fairness. I felt so bad for both of them, but I was so very proud of the people they became. They worked on themselves and they are still continuing to do so. And that’s all they can do.
Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.
What about you? Have you read either of these? Let me know in the comments!
