Top 10 2021 Releases I Was Excited to Read but Didn’t Get to!
- Payback’s a Witch by Lana Harper: I found this book so late 🙁 So I got on the hold list super late and then I bought it and it got lost in what I call my home library lol When I finally got off the hold list, I had 561849519849 other books out too, so I had to hold off on checking it out. I’ll get to it one day!
- Stuntboy, In the Meantime by Jason Reynolds: Anything by Jason Reynolds and I’m going to read it immediately. Except this one. And I have no idea why. I don’t know what made me wait for this, but I’m going to read it soon I hope!
3. Reel by Kennedy Ryan: I bought this when I was barely starting BookTok. But at that time I was still only reading mostly YA and not so much spicy books. So there it sits, on my shelf. Maybe I’ll pull it out next month when I’m doing a little something, something for BIPOC romances……….
4. The Fastest Way to Fall by Denise Williams: I got all set to read this…. And then I found out it was a companion novel. And even though it’s a companion and not a full second book in the series, I still want to read the other first. I just want to be able to get the inside jokes and know who certain characters are if they turn up in the book. I love finding things like that.
5. Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber: I said I wouldn’t read this since I didn’t really enjoy Finale that much. But then the cover came out and then everyone was saying it was so good and ughhhh they got me lolol
6. Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey: This one releases in 2022, but I’ve had the e-ARC sitting on my iPad for SO. LONG. I really want to read it and it’s taking everything to not read it yet. This was the couple I most wanted to read about since they tried so hard to “not be” a couple in the first one. I can’t wait to get to this one!
7. Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray: I remember I got an ARC of this when I was traveling from somewhere. And it was supposed to be first on my TBR. But then I left it at home. And then I was behind and reading something else. Yeah, it was a whole thing. I will get to it this year tho!
8. Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston: I added this to my TBR like in September, but by then the hold list was still long and people were trying to add it to one of our award lists here in Tx, so it’s taking me forever to get a copy. I will read it soon tho!
9. How to Find a Princess by Alyssa Cole: Another victim of the super long hold lines. But then I got frustrated with waiting and took myself and bought it. I should have just stayed on the hold list.
10. Tristan Strong Keeps Punching by Kwame Mbalia: See #9 lolol
What about you? Have you read any of these? If so, tell me what I’m missing! Did any of these make your list? Let me know in the comments!
Nice picks! I adored Once Upon a Broken Heart! I’ll definitely be re-reading it again before The Ballad of Never After comes out! Hope you’re able to read some of these soon this year!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
