This week’s topic is:
Opening Lines Scenes
1. Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams: I don’t really remember the first lines, but I remember the first scene, and it was hilarious. These big burly men going to a book store and looking for the romance section was the cutest!
2. Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez: Again, I don’t remember the first lines (I listened to the audio) but I do know that I loved the opening scene of Tucker jumping in through her sun roof lol I imagined my own dog doing that. She totes would lol
3. Verona Comics by Jennifer Dugan: Again, I don’t remember the first lines, but I remember the opening scene. Peacock Girl is still one of my favorite nicknames ever lol
4. Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid: The beginning was terrible, but also so good. Definitely realistic, definitely terrible, and definitely good. I did not want to put this one down. I think I finished it in like 2 days.
5. A Love Hate Thing by Whitney D. Grandison: This was pretty stereotypical, but I till this day I still remember the first sentence from this book. It was definitely something I needed at the time I read it.
6. The Book Worm Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts: This was so cute! She’s a book blogger who gets caught red-handed yarn bombing a bench. Not something I would do, but this book worm definitely appreciates the things she did to meet her favorite author.
7. Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia: Two words…. GUM BABY. It wasn’t the very first opening scene, but close enough. And if she’s not enough to make you want to keep reading this, I don’t know what is!
8. Well Met by Jen DeLuca: Another that’s not the actual opening scene, but the time when Emily agrees to volunteer with her niece at the Ren Faire. I’m not sure if that counts, but oh well.
9. I Wanna Be Where You Are by Kristina Forest: This was where she was trying to find out how to get to her audition without her mom knowing. And let me just tell you, sneaking out with a Black mom is not easy task lol They know everything smh
10. I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver: I almost cried when I saw how they treated them in the book. I was so heartbroken. Thankful that they had somewhere to go. I hate that somewhere there are still some teens having to go through that.
This topic was kinda hard! I had to go through my Read shelf and see which ones made that big of an impression on me to remember what they were and remember the best ones. It was hard but also so much fun! What books did you add? Do you know of any of these opening scenes? Let me know in the comments!
