TTT: How My Reading Habits Have Changed Over Time

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish and is now run by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she will post a new Top Ten list . Everyone is welcome to join.  This week’s topic is:

DNFs: I used to try and power through them, but now?! Oh I will drop them like a bad habit. I just DNFed one the other day at like 8% lol

Format: I read like 95% of audios now. At one point I was reading no audios and all ebooks or hardcovers. Now I’m reading mostly audios and e-books. And for the most part, those books that are e-books, might also become audios if I get Alexa to read to me lol

Notes: I used to take a copious amount of notes when I was reading. Especially when I was reading physical books. I still do when I read physical ones, but for the most part, I just try to remember everything when I’m listening to audio books. I might even have to write something down so I don’t forget if I’ve read too many in a row tho.

-Mood Reading: I used to just pick up a book and read through it. But now as a mood reader I’m all over the place. Sometimes I might stop in the middle of a book just to switch to another because my mood changed.

-Books bought: I buy way too many books now. I have adult money and I’m out here spending it like I don’t have no sense at all lol

Library: With the amount of digital libraries and the digital collection we have now a days, I use the library way more than I used to. I would probably check out one every so often. But now it’s like 4 or 5 a week? lol

Non-Fiction: I used to read no non-fiction because I used reading as an escape. I wanted nothing more than to just read about something that couldn’t happen in real life. But now, I try my best to read at least a few non-fiction a year. I can only read them if it’s something that I’m really interested in, but I am working my way through a few of them.

Genres: I’m not a huge fan of fantasies. I used to be tho. I LOVED the series about the Boy who Lived and Percy Jackson, but I don’t think I’ve ever been super into anything else? I usually have too many other questions. There’s never enough detail for me.

What to read: A LONGGGGGGGGGGG time ago I used to pick up books based on what I saw/heard about other people reading. I read the entirety of the Babysitters Club because my mom’s co-worker read them and said I might like them. But as I grew up, I still do that, BUT I’m more confident on picking my own books by myself.

Reading Multiple books at a time: I used to read one book at a time. For a while it worked since I was reading with my eyeballs and I was reading through them so fast. But now I can’t read with my eyeballs as a mom and just being as busy as I am, so it’s easier to read multiple at a time. But till this day, I can only read one per reading device…. iPad, Kindle, physical, and audio.

What about you? Do we share any? Have you noticed any that I do that I didn’t list? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Ooh nice! I am still a one book at a time girlie! Otherwise I feel like I’d mix up plots and whatnot or get the names wrong. I also still have to take notes. Usually just enough to remind me of things when it comes time to write the review as I read pretty slow compared to other readers and it might be 4-5 days from start to finish and I want to get the details right. Plus if it’s an ongoing series I take extra detailed notes to act as a recap for myself to read later on! Lol.

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
