TTT: Bookish Pet Peeves

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish and is now run by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she will post a new Top Ten list . Everyone is welcome to join.  This week’s topic is:

Bookish Pet Peeves

  • Thrillers/Mysteries that use Drugs or Alcohol Use to make the Narrator Unreliable: Haven’t we moved past that? If not, can we? Please find some other way to make them unreliable.
  • When a synopsis tells the entire story: What exactly is the point of me reading the book then?
  • Slow-burns that leave only like 10% of the book for them to be together: Like dude, that’s too slow.
  • Stickers on the front of a book: Especially those where they’re actually part of the cover now. I HATE them.
  • When someone tries talking to me while reading: I AM BUSY OK?! PLEASE LEAVE ME TF ALONE.
  • When people damage library books: I’m a librarian. Don’t judge me lolol
  • When I’m hella excited but the book’s release is delayed: Listen I can’t wait anymore!!!!!
  • Spoilers: I WILL KILL YOU. (Ok not really, but I might maim and seriously harm you so don’t tempt me lol)
  • When people write in books to annotate it instead of just using those little flags: THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A CRIME.
  • When people dog-ear pages… Even more so if the book is a library book: It really grinds my gears!

What about you? Do you hate any of these too? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Oh you know me so well! I agree with all of these! I could never really get used to the whole writing in a book. Even a textbook that I bought. I think I started to a little, but then didn’t like doing it, erased it and used post its. Delayed releases is one I agree with too! Though mine usually end up being canceled and I’m a wreck for weeks on end!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Ergh, the synopsis thing. Especially when they list a major event which doesn’t even happen until at least half way through the book, so that spoils your enjoyment because you’re just sat there waiting for it. It’s the WORST.
