For Readers Interested In: Romance, Realistic Fiction, AdultThis summer they’ll keep their promise. This summer they won’t give into temptation. This summer will be different.
Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.
It’s easier said than done.
Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.
If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.
When Bridget suddenly flees Toronto a week before her wedding, Lucy drops everything to follow her to the island. Her mission is to help Bridget through her crisis and resist the one man she’s never been able to. But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.
*MY THOUGHTS*
I went into this with A LOT of trepidation. I was so scared this was going to be another book like the first one. And I was sad because I actually liked her first book. But the second one was exactly the same as the other. So I went in to this one not even excited. But as it turns out, this one was so much better and much different. I can honestly say I love this!
So this might be the main thing from this book, but the main thing I liked about this was the romance. This was a lot more spicy than her other two books. And I mean spicy in terms of the amount of times it happened. It wasn’t explicit tho. But it was like every other chapter it was happening and I remember thinking like, damn, do they ever come up for air lol But when you think about it in terms of not seeing each other and having those times not on page, it makes it more understandable. And the best part of it was, it didn’t even feel like instalove. They liked each other, but I could feel the way they were comfortable with each other because of Felix’s sister. It felt so real and I was very impressed by that.
The plot itself was a bit basic tho. It was basically like go to PEI, do it, and then leave. And while there, go back in time and think about the times you used to do it if you’re currently not. It was really weird and repetitive. But i wasn’t really that mad by it? All because I was like THANK GOODNESS it’s not the same as the other ones. Because lordt knows I was disappointed in the first two being so similar. I can’t say this was what I expected, but it was way better than reading something for the third time lol
The characters were the thing that pissed me off tho. The sister was so cringe. I was mad as hell at her. Because GIRL why tf you out here wasting everyone’s time? All you had to do was say something. And that was a shitty ass thing to like stop everyone’s lives for. I’m not gon lie to you, if that were my friend, I think I would have cussed her out or kicked her ass. It was quite literally a waste of time. She would have had someone else do her damn flowers, because GIRL WHAT?! Maybe it’s just me or maybe I’m just dramatic, but she pissed me off lol
Although this was way different than her others, it still could have been fixed if someone had just opened their mouth and talked. The good thing about this one is it wasn’t the MC this time. And for that I was thankful. Looks like Carley Fortune won’t be a forever do not read again for me! Glad I’ll get to enjoy at least another book from her!
Overall, I give this
