Two strangers share a romantic night together only to discover months later they’re professional rivals in this grumpy meets sunshine romance novella from the acclaimed author of How To Fail at Flirting.
Gia loves her job as a professor, even when it means dealing with an elusive rival academic who’s made it his mission to criticize her work. When she meets him for the first time, she’s shocked to learn they’ve met before. Months earlier, they shared a perfect New Year’s Eve together in an airport during a weather delay.
After months of working together, Felix still can’t believe the person whose research he’s been challenging is the same captivating woman he kissed that night. The two couldn’t be more different. Gia is bubbly, friendly, and extroverted and drives ordered, serious Felix nuts.
Now the two have been assigned to embark on a five-school tour for work. Gia and Felix can’t imagine a travel partner they’d enjoy less until they feel the sparks fly over their shared armrests, security mishaps, and a shared hotel room. They’ll need to decide if they can manage their professional tension, or risk missing the connection of a lifetime.

*MY THOUGHTS*

I jumped on this one since I liked the first one so much. I was expecting for it to be more of the same, but unfortunately this one missed the mark with me. I’m not sure if it was the Enemies to Lovers or if it was because I hyped it up in my mind after the first one, but I just didn’t care for it.

I knew I didn’t care for this one when I sat down to write this review and I didn’t remember it at all. Normally I can remember my favorite parts or at least the part where they’re finally together, but I didn’t remember this one at all. It just didn’t stand out to me. This is unfortunate because the first one in this series made me add all her backlist to my TBR.

I do remember the connection between Gia and the other characters from The Love Connection. This was cool because I liked her in the other story. And once I went back to listen to some things again, I remembered some other things about her as well. She was very outspoken and I admired her for being that way because I knew that I could never be that way. She didn’t take any ish and that’s the complete opposite of me, a person who hates confrontation lol She not only took what people dished out, but she made them remember that she was there and not to look over her. Now the love interest? The complete opposite. And I think that’s why I don’t remember it. He was quiet, didn’t like a lot of fanfare, and he didn’t even like hanging out with the people he needed to get his work done. At the very least I can do that much. But he was just really boring. But he did redeem himself in my eyes when he told that one person off towards the end, so that was cool also.

The romance itself I don’t really remember much of either. I do remember the epilogue and I thought it was super sweet. I loved how they got to know each other and how they incorporated things into the situation. It showed what they really felt for each other. But for everything else, I don’t really remember anything about them. They just weren’t a memorable couple to me. Which sucks because I still want to read the last one. I hope they don’t play a large part in this last one.

I really hope this last one is more like the first one. Not that this one was bad, it just didn’t make me feel anything like that one. From the description it sounds like it’s going to be fun! I’ve loved getting to know about that little candy shop. We’ll see how things go!

Overall, I give this
