An airport pet groomer meets her frequent flier crush in this captivating romance novella from the acclaimed author of How to Fail at Flirting
Ollie Wright loves the thrill of taking chances, like opening a pet grooming salon in an airport where every day is a little unpredictable. The one thing she won’t risk is her heart, so catching glimpses of a cute stranger from afar is enough romantic entanglement for her.
Bennett Baker is a professional risk assessor by day while writing popular romance novels at night, except he finds himself facing writer’s block. His life of carefully planned stability comes crashing down when he rescues a slippery pup in the airport and returns it to the enchanting pet groomer whose laugh inspires him to start writing again.
Their chance encounter and instant chemistry thrusts them into a whirlwind of airport dates at pretzel kiosks, stolen glances at empty gates, and late-night texts that leave them swooning. If the risk-adverse Bennett can take a chance on uncertainty and adventurous Ollie will break her own rule, their relationship might stop taxiing and actually take off.

*MY THOUGHTS*

I’m probably one of the last people on the Denise Williams train, but I finally read something by her. I don’t know why I never read her debut, but whatever the reason, this was my push to finally get to it. Because let me tell you, this short novella was just the serotonin I needed. And it wasn’t even 150 pages.

Who ever heard of a pet groomer inside of an airport? No one really you say? Well that’s just why Ollie wanted to do it. She loves taking risks. But that doesn’t include taking risks like dating. The furthest she’ll go is watching a stranger from afar as he makes his weekly trips through the terminals. Insert Bennett who’s a romance author that’s now facing writer’s block in his fiction world. But his love life in reality heats up with the help of a small slippery pup racing through the airport.

First of all, I loved the setting for this. I love traveling and I love going to airports to get ready to travel, so this was so much fun. I could just hear the hustle and bustle of all the people walking to and fro in the airport and then just seeing a super cute sudsy pup sprinting through all those people was too cute. I It’s funny that so little pages and so little descriptors still helped me to pick up on those details. Williams picked the right strings to pull to tug on my heartstrings. (If you don’t know by now, I’m a dog lover lol)

I also liked the characters and their romance. I mean I’ve said it time and time again that I will forever read any book about bookish people. And having the male MC be a romance author? I was obviously into it. (Which is hella weird, because usually I say that men can’t accurately write women lol) I thought Ollie was cute, but Bennett was cuter. I liked how he wasn’t embarrassed about what he did and how he was so humble about his writing. I did want more from the romance tho. But that could just be me being selfish because I wanted to stay in this little world, I didn’t want to leave. I’m glad I have the next one that I’ll start here soon. I don’t remember what the spice was like, but I do remember her saying she thought a lot about some of his spicy scenes, so I’ll say that the Spice Level of this is like a 1. There’s more than handholding, but it’s like in a book. Definitely not something to write home about.

This quick read was just what I needed at the time. I can’t wait to get to the second one and her other works now. I don’t know what stopped me before, but I won’t let it stop me now!

Overall, I give this
