A disillusioned millennial ghostwriter who, quite literally, has some ghosts of her own, has to find her way back home in this sparkling adult debut from national bestselling author Ashley Poston.
Florence Day is the ghostwriter for one of the most prolific romance authors in the industry, and she has a problem—after a terrible breakup, she no longer believes in love. It’s as good as dead.
When her new editor, a too-handsome mountain of a man, won’t give her an extension on her book deadline, Florence prepares to kiss her career goodbye. But then she gets a phone call she never wanted to receive, and she must return home for the first time in a decade to help her family bury her beloved father.
For ten years, she’s run from the town that never understood her, and even though she misses the sound of a warm Southern night and her eccentric, loving family and their funeral parlor, she can’t bring herself to stay. Even with her father gone, it feels like nothing in this town has changed. And she hates it.
Until she finds a ghost standing at the funeral parlor’s front door, just as broad and infuriatingly handsome as ever, and he’s just as confused about why he’s there as she is.
Romance is most certainly dead . . . but so is her new editor, and his unfinished business will have her second-guessing everything she’s ever known about love stories.

*MY THOUGHTS*

This is something I never thought I’d say….. But this celebrity book club book was actually banging lol But I knew when I saw Ashley Poston’s name as the author, I knew it would be something I loved. And sure enough, it was. Everything from the synopsis to the words on the page had me hooked. I think this is the first one I’ve ever read that I’ve actually liked lol

This was so good! It was almost exactly what I needed. A couple months ago I said I wanted something along the lines of Ghost with Patrick Swayze and I got nothing. But then someone mentioned this one. And although I already had it on my TBR, I hadn’t been that excited about it. I was more wary like I always am when I see one of my favorite YA authors has written an adult book. But this one wasn’t too bad. Definitely a good crossover. There is some sex on the page, but I don’t think it’s something that they couldn’t handle.

The romance was so cute! I was a little iffy when I first found out who it was with, because although I said I wanted a book like Ghost, I knew what it came with. Hands going through them and having one of them actually die lol I was a bit worried about it. But I really shouldn’t have been. They were so cute together. And then the ending literally made me gasp out-loud. I remember cheering and being so happy. Ashley Poston really did a good job with the way she wrote this one. The spice was closed door.
There was a small part when dude was still a ghost that they actually were talking about doing it and it was weirdly hot lol But because it was a ghost, I’m not sure how to feel about it lol
The ending of this book was the literal best. Not only was the ending to the romance good, but the surprises that came with the rest of the plot was also good. I knew that something was going to happen, but I wasn’t expecting it to be that. And the fact that I figured it out right before she did, I gasped out loud then too. I don’t know the last time I was genuinely surprised by something. Maybe it was because I wasn’t listening to try to figure it out, I was just listening to enjoy, or maybe because I was thinking of the way And that helped me really enjoy it.

The only reason I didn’t give this a perfect rating was because I didn’t like the pacing of it. In some places it felt like it was a little repetitive (I mean how much can you actually do with a dead person) and I was a little annoyed with some of the other characters. Some that were close to her and some that weren’t. I realize that it might have been because they were trying to cause conflict in the story, but it was actually just annoying lol

I felt everything while reading this though, and I loved that. I got teary at some point, I got mad at something, and I swooned at some places. And let’s not forget that I was weirded out in some places (because who wouldn’t be? It’s a ghost love story lol) I’ll just say this book wasn’t what I was expecting at all.

I should have known Poston would deliver no matter what the subject was. It’s something that I don’t usually enjoy, so I went into it kind of skeptical, but I should have known better. Now I just want to know when is Poston’s next adult romance.

Overall, I give this
