Petra is skeptical when it comes to the French Quarter’s urban legends. Until she meets Dax Rousseau, the proprietor of the House of Ink and Blood. The markings on his flesh tell more than the tale of a doomed bloodline. They come alive. And the nearer Petra gets to the deeply sexy Dax, the closer she is to being the next victim of his ancient family curse.
*MY THOUGHTS*
This started out so good! I really had a lot of fun reading this book. I don’t normally gravitate towards monster romance, but this one had Kimberly Lemming and Ali Hazelwood, so I just had to get my hands on it.
So with anthologies I always talk about the stories I liked first. My favorite one was actually by Katee Robert. I have never read a book about a sleep paralysis demon, so this was fun lol And it was everything that I thought it would be. Caleb was a romantic and I really don’t understand how he fell in love with her lol And then there’s Kimberly Lemmings’ story that I liked the beginning of but felt weird about towards the end. I was just confused as to what in the world she was doing dating someone who would take her on a mountain?! And I also liked Ali’s of course, but I wanted more romance? Like it was so short! And it was so good and plot filled. But it was short on the romance and that made me sad. She had too much set up for a novella if that makes sense.
The others were just weird af to me. I know now why I haven’t read any blue alien books because the Dixon story that was in this did not do it for me. I was disappointed by the Christina Lauren one. It was just boring? And the curses one didn’t do anything for me either. These were really weird to me, but I still read them all the way through.
This was a fun one for the most part. I wish I had read it closer to Halloween tho. I haven’t really read Monster Romance before, but now that I have, I want more. Hopefully there will be more by Hazelwood, Lemming, or Robert. Otherwise I’ll just have to re-read their stories over and over.
Overall, I give this
