I LOVE this! Thank you Renee! I love this because this isn’t something you’d normally see here on my blog. If you’ve followed me for more than awhile, you’ve probably heard how much I hate historical fiction. It’s just too much Black Pain in it and I can’t stand it. But someone once said to look for some historical romances, they might make you feel better. They said to start with Beverly Jenkins too, so maybe I’ll actually read her soon! (Also can we talk about this cover?! That’s one thing I can admit about historical fiction. They always have awesome covers, and this one is HAWT!)
Must Love Books by Shauna Robinson
Release Date: January 18, 2022

Stand-alone
Romance, Adult Fiction, Books about BooksMust Love Books is the story of Nora, an editorial assistant who has worked at Parsons Press for the past five years. With people coming and going from her current job, it propels her to change her career. Parsons Press specializes in Nonfiction, but Norah’s passion lies in the Fiction genre. When she was a little girl, she dreamed of publishing; however, her real-life experiences have jaded her dreams of where her career is. The harsh reality Parsons has taken a toll on her mentally, and she wonders if she made the right career choice.
What I loved about this story is that gives a realistic view of publishing and some of the day-to-day tasks as an editorial assistant as the author worked in publishing herself. In the book, there are many discussions surrounding race, diversity, salaries, and a realistic portrait of trying to navigate a work-life balance.
As for the Romance aspects, I enjoyed the sparks that fly between Nora and Andrew when they first meet. Things change for them instantly and that simple spark in their initial conversation quickly turns into a flirty banter that starts to turn into something deeper. It’s a romance that’s on the sweeter side of things, but the connection between Nora and Andrew is so strong. I recommend this book if you like books about books, narratives of self-discovery, and a cute romance!

I thought it was so interesting that Rachel picked this one because I’ve heard its more of a women’s fiction book, but I heard that the romance aspects of it go perfectly with the other half of the novel. And that’s why I’m also excited that Rachel picked this one! Even though the cover is illustrated, since it’s nor a romance I wouldn’t have picked it up. But maybe with someone pointing out the romance aspects and showing me how well they work, I might be inclined to pick it up!
A huge thanks to both Renee and Rachel for stopping by to give some recs on books with good romance and romance books! I hope y’all pick one of these up!!!
