Oz the Great and Powerful: Movie Review

When I first heard of this movie, I was so excited to see it. I LOVE Disney and I knew their remake of this was going to be amazing just from the movie posters. The movie is telling the story of how “Oz the great and powerful wizard” makes his way to the Land of Oz. It is a pre-quel to the movie/book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
When I watch a movie, I like to be swept up into the visual effects, because well I’m watching it. With out it being there I relie on just the story and then I’d just as soon read the book. Anyways, this movie had AMAZING graphics. The colors were pretty and bright. I can’t wait for it to come out on Blu-ray, its going to be soooo pretty. And the graphics that go alongside the animations were good too. I loved the little monkey and the China Girl. Although she looked a little creepy lol
I also loved the way this movie ties into The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It showed how we’re introduced to The Scarecrow, The Tinman, and The Lion. It made me want to go home and watch The Wizard of Oz and get to know those characters again. And the way they made the movie start off in black and white and then goes into the amazing color when he reaches Oz just like with Dorothy. It was so pretty!
Finally lets talk about the acting. I loved how they were so into their characters. I LOVED their acting. Some things were a bit overdone, but I know it was mainly for the laughs. Overall, this movie is a very cute family friendly movie and I recommend it for all ages.

  1. So glad you loved this! I've seen some 'meh' reviews and I was a little sad because I want to see it. I can tell the graphics are amazing just from the trailer but really need to see it on the big screen. 🙂

  2. I loved this movie too. And I, too, interpreted the "overacting" as comedy. I think it's too bad that so many people thought that it was horrible acting.
