As a cupid, Jude thinks they understand love a little bit more than the average human. It makes sense — Jude’s been studying love their whole teen life. And, yes, there have been some bumps in the road, and they’re currently on probation for doing something that they absolutely, definitely shouldn’t have done… but they’re ready to prove they can make matches without ever getting involved. Only… Jude’s next assignment isn’t about setting up two adults. No, this time Jude has to go to high school, with kids their own age. And the assignment is a tough two best friends who are meant to be more than just best friends… but who aren’t currently speaking to each other after a huge falling out. Jude thinks they’ve got this one all under control, and that they won’t get involved whatsoever. Which proves that maybe Jude hasn’t learned the first lesson of humans and love … It’s complicated.
*MY THOUGHTS*
As soon as I saw Mason Deaver had another book coming out I added it to my TBR. No questions asked. Since their debut they’ve always been on my auto-read list. I’m talking I don’t even have to read the synopsis on this one. And this was one of them. All I saw was Cupid and that was enough for me lol
So this was ok, but I will say this is my least fave Deaver book? Only because of the plot. Jude was miserable and I found myself feeling so sad for them the entire book. Especially since they wanted to be human. I wanted to let them know, “Hey you’re not missing anything really” lmao But because this book was so character centered, it made the story entertaining, but I wanted something more.
The romance was so cute tho. I LOVED the love interest, I don’t want to say who it is since the synopsis doesn’t, but it was cute. I especially loved the ending. Spoiler: I love the idea that they found each other again. But I really need to ask…….. Does that even count as an HEA? Because they leave at the end. They say they don’t want to start anything because they’re leaving, so what does that mean?! But still I thought their romance was cute so I’m just going to say in my head that yes, they made it lol
I thought the way they did the Cupid thing was cute, but I wish we saw more “real” missions. Or even if it was to go follow the others on their missions. I guess I just wanted to see what they were able to do. Especially since it was labeled as a fantasy. But I guess if it was labeled as a Mythology based Romantasy, then I would have known more of what to expect.
But even still this book has all of the flair that only Deaver can bring. I love their writing style so much. I was sucked into it immediately. The readability is always there and it is always so easy to get lost in them. At least this time I didn’t cry lol Usually when I read a book by Deaver I’m left in tears. This one made me poke my lip out in a sad pout, but that’s about it lol
No surprise that I liked this one. I knew I was going to as soon as I saw it was going to be a thing. Although i would have preferred some things to be different, I still think it was really, really good. I hope y’all pick this up.
Overall, I give this
