Good Eats, Good Reads!: A Phở Love Story by Loan Le

I’ve read some really great books lately that feature one of my favorite things… FOOD! This inspired me to make a blog post about it. So every so often I will feature a book and a food item from that book. It could be a recipe I got and tried, a food item that I bought because of the book, or something completely different. It will vary along with the book. This won’t be an every week thing, just something that I will do every so often, so don’t be surprised if you see some from a long time ago that I may have done, like my own Lemon Tarts I made after reading Heartless by Marissa Meyer.

For my first one, I wanted to highlight a book I just read:

A Pho Love Story

I imagine I appear obsessed with this book because I KEEP TALKING ABOUT IT. But as a pregnant woman, all the talk about food was torturing me lol Every time they mentioned phở I was craving it. I went through a lot of it because of this book.

Phở, pronounced “fuh,” is a Vietnamese soup that is normally made with a bone-beef broth, banh pho noodles, and thinly sliced beef, that’s often served with bean sprouts and other fresh herbs on the side.” There are also many different variations of it. I’ve only had a few variations of it, but they are all so good!

Doesn’t that look amazing? The other thing that I desperately wanted after reading this was a Bánh mì. If you’ve never had one, it’s an amazing sandwich. I don’t have pictures of that one because even though they sounded mouth watering, my craving for phở always won out.

Although I love to read books and find a new food to experience, I still loved that this one was a favorite of mine all around. I LOVE contemps, even more so if they feature a diverse couple, AND food. And this one had all that, plus one of my favorite foods.

So basically, if you read this book, don’t forget to put your order in for some phở, because you will definitely be craving some after finishing (or during it) just like I did!

Have you read this book? Have you ever tried phở? If you answered no to either of these questions, what are you waiting on?! Go do it and and tell me all about it in the comments!
