A scandalous arrangement between a hellion heiress and destitute duke reveals truths that neither can outrun….
As the youngest and most rebellious daughter of the overly protective Luna family, Gabriela Luna Valdés claws after her freedom in any way she can. This time, her hunger for adventure has led her aboard a windswept ship bearing for her homeland, away from a mob of fumbling British suitors. But Gabby can’t escape her father’s expectation that she settle down to find a proper husband—a compromise she’s unwilling to make.
For Sebastian Brooks, Duke of Whitfield, the trip to Mexico is his last chance. His last chance to rectify his family’s estate and refill their dwindling coffers. And his last chance to match wits with the sharp-tongued but deliciously tempting Gabriela.
When Gabby finds herself in need of a hasty escape, Sebastian agrees to assist her…but their close proximity sparks a red-hot passion that could ruin all their plans. With scandal looming, can Sebastian convince Gabby his regard is sincere or will she sail away with his heart?

*MY THOUGHTS*

OK so this was the last book and the series and honestly, I’m not ok. This was so good and I can’t believe that I don’t have another to look forward to. This book was so good and a lot more spicy than I thought it would be. So basically, I loved it lol

The romance was good. Their banter gave me life. I wasn’t a fan of those where they hated each other, but y’all know how I am. I’m not a fan of enemies to lovers, but this one didn’t bother me as much. They fought, but not much. It never got cruel either. He didn’t tell her some stuff, but even then, it was never super bad. When they finally got it together, it didn’t bother me. Because they were at least civil to each other, them finding each other and falling in love felt real.

The plot was what made me rate this 4 stars. It didn’t seem like there was one? She was going back and forth and when it finally came out that she was trying to get approval from her dad and t make him feel like he was proud of her, it was almost the end of the book. And I know some people don’t care about that, but it didn’t feel like there was a climax to the story or anything. The plot twist came because of the added characters that even we didn’t know about. And that annoyed me. It just felt like instead of an actual plot, things just kept getting dropped in their lap and hoping it stuck. Like I get the she wants her freedom, but with her going back and forth on trains and boats, it felt like she already had it, so it just seemed like a weird thing to want.

The characters kind of made up for that tho. The characters were the best part. The Duke? Loved him, even though he was absolutely ridiculous lol He had the smartest mouth I ever seen. Like the he knew Spanish part lmao I loved that scene. And the way he was never scared to take up for her, no matter who it was to. He really stepped up big time for her. I don’t think she even knew what she had. And the way she kept running kept getting on my nerves. I wanted to shake her. Then her dad, although I hated him, I liked the way she showed and talked about how things were back in that time. How her mom was scared to say anything different than him and the others. It served the world-building well.

This was fun, but I still say Anna Marie is my favorite. This was a good way to close out the series tho. I loved the series ending epilogue too. It really kind of made me sad tho, so realize that this was it and there was no more. I hope that we get more from somewhere in this series.

Overall, I give this
