Some loves will last ’til your dying breath
Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.
Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.
Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…
*MY THOUGHTS*
I have to admit, going into this book I didn’t really remember anything from the previous books. I thought maybe I could get something from my old reviews or even some of my old notes, but I couldn’t use anything. I ended up just going with the flow and remembering small things when certain situaions came up. Me not remembering was the reason I put reading it off so long.

Layla still doesn’t want to pick between the sexy demon Roth or the super hot do gooder Zayne. She knows there’s more important things to do. (Either that or she doesn’t want to pick and ruin her relationship with one of them.) She doesn’t want to make it seem as if she is more of one side than the other. But then everything they’ve been fighting towards comes to a head when a Lilin is released topside. Finally Layla realizes that she must choose whose side she wants to use to survive. And she must choose wisely.

As usual, this JLA book was filled with epic battles. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to read this one. I was in the middle of a reading slump, and I figured those can always be cured by something JLA wrote. And of course it helped greatly. With all the winged demons and huge Wardens and all the other things that were trying to bash each other’s skulls in this book, I was on the edge of my seat trying to see if eveil or good will prevail.

I also loved the love scenes in this one. Being honest I really wanted to read this to know who it was she picked before someone spoiled it for me. I avoided looking at all reviews for this one like the plague. I wanted to find out who she (Layla and all the JLA fans) chose on my own. So, saying that, I won’t spoil it for anyone one else, or even give my opinion on who she chose since I’ve spoken on what “#Team” I’m on many times. But I will say that the love scenes in this one were signature JLA. Super hot, supere swoony, and made me read it at least 3-4 times lol

The romance also brought up another thing that loved about JLA. I realized then that she is able to write anything. Like I mean she let her fans choose a huge part of the book. There were some scenes that could’ve ended in a different way due to who it was that he chose. It was a really cool concept that I don’t think people appreciate. Maybe she didn’t have the entire story written yet and the person we picked helped her decide how she wanted the story to go. Or maybe she didn’t have the story written at all and then began writing it after we picked. Which in that case makes her a writing machine because she finished it in a year. Whatever the case may be, JLA is a very impressive author that deserves every bit of hype she gets.

The best part of this though had to be the ending. Sometimes I see there are some series that are not completely wrapped up or they leave some things left hanging. But this one was completely wrapped up and there wasn’t anything left hanging open. This ending tied up all loose ends and gave me a clean cut ending with no questions left to ask.
“Loss was bitter whether it was expected or unanticipated. And this was a loss.“

Everything about this book was JLA’s signature style. Hot literary guy, a heated romance, and some awesome battles. This series ender will tie up every question that may have come up during the series. If for no other reason, read it to see who all of JLA’s fans picked for Layla to be with!
Overall, I give this
