“History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. “

Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.

If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

*MY THOUGHTS*
First things first. This is definitely the most amazing of the Covenant series. It will twist your heart and make you scared, make you laugh, and make you nervous as hell. All because of Armentrout’s writing.
From the beginning, we find out something very unexpected about Alex’s family. She is caught off guard by this and doesn’t know how to react towards it. For once she keeps her cool. All because of the most amazing boy in YA literature… Aiden St. Del Phi.
As the book goes on, Alex finds herself more into classes and is not really training anymore, except with Seth. It is during these sessions that strange things start to happen. Then one day, out the blue when Alex is in class, all hell breaks loose. Soon afterwards, she realizes who it was that was lying to her. And “my gods” will you be surprised. I have definitely learned a lesson from Armentrout’s writing, do not assume that you know something. You will be wrong every time.
From here, the story goes into way too much detail for me to  continue without being spoilery. There are so many twists and turns in this book you will literally sit up for hours with this face 0____0 like I was the entire second half of the book! And that ending, wow, it will have you holding your breath! It literally found myself flipping through the ads in the back of the book wondering if there was more of the story but I just missed it. But alas, there was not.
What I liked most about the book is the presence of the gods. In this book they are more prevalent and you are reminded that this is a book about mythology. (Not that there was any doubt before, they are just more than merely mentioned now). Just as a precaution, you must know that with them being there, the story is nothing less than intense. Nothing is going the way Alex expected it and she is freaked out.
Last but not least… The two chapters that you come across with Aiden? Geez louise! I didn’t think it was possible for me to fall for him any harder, but it happened and I did. He is the epitome of greatness, hotness, and the most perfect book boyfriend ever. Although I mentioned those two chapters, it was more than that. The entire book is full of times with her and Seth and her and Aiden, but I don’t think its a surprise to anyone which one I enjoyed more.
Overall, this book is a fantastic, enchanting read. It will leave you reeling and ready for Apollyon (Covenant, #4) as soon as you close the back flap.

Overall, I give this

  1. I can't wait to read this book, and your review just made the waiting time that much worse! Love this series! Great review!

  2. Ugh I really need Apollyon!!!!!! I also second that Aiden St Delphi is the best book boyfriend ever….moreso than Daemon Black, which used to be my obsession. But after this book…there's no competition. Deity was the best Covenant book!!!! Great review! 🙂
