Do you believe the education system needs to change its approach to teaching reading and literature to students?
Yes. But only in regards to them teaching to the test. And students not practicing at home. And never seeing their parents read. And for so many people that take accommodations from them. (If I have ADHD and the best way for me to read is an audiobook, graphic novels because of the pictures and shortness, or novels in verse because of the open page space, but here you are talking down on them, instead of trying a full novel, I’m not going to read at all.) So if you do any of these things, then yes. Find another way. And look to the student to find what works best for them.

What about you? Do we agree? Let me know in the comments!

I agree! I fully believe audiobooks count as reading. Comic books/graphic novels yet. We have so many avenues of “reading” that whatever works for the reader works.
