Question of the Week: How important is good writing to you? In an ideal world, a book would be beautifully written AND have great character development, plot, etc. But in the real world, which do you prefer: (1) Great characters and plot with lousy writing or (2) Middling character development and plot but gorgeous writing?
I think I’ll have to go with great character development and plot because regardless of having great characters, they have to be doing something. If I have great characters and the writing is so nice and it took me away (see what I did there? lol) I do NOT want the plot lacking. Because then even with all its gorgeousness I will stop reading it.
Which one would you prefer?
I'm the same. The story and characters are most important!
