     Sometimes life leaves a mark…
Most days, Andrea doesn’t know whether she wants to kiss Tanner or punch him in the gut. He is seriously hot, with legit bedroom eyes and that firefighter body of his, but he’s a major player, and they can’t get along for more than a handful of minutes. Until now.
Tanner knows he and Andrea have had an epic love/hate relationship for as long as he can remember, but he wants more love than hate from her. He wants her. Now. Tomorrow. But the more he gets to know her, the more it becomes obvious that Andrea has a problem. She’s teetering on the edge and every time he tries to catch her, she slips through his fingers.
Andrea’s life is spiraling out of control, and it doesn’t matter that Tanner wants to save her, because when everything falls apart and she’s speeding toward rock bottom, only she can save herself.
Sometimes life makes you work for that happily ever after…

*MY THOUGHTS*

When I read the first one, I had to use a Hot Boy Alert gif for Kyler before I started the review, but for this book I just couldn’t find the perfect one for Tanner. He was the PERFECT man and he has become my favorite man in NA for 2015. Once you read this, you will definitely understand.
“Sundays just weren’t the same without The Walking Dead.”

Andrea and Tanner are not friends. Andrea doesn’t know if she likes him or hates him. Tanner knows that there is something between them, but he isn’t sure if he wasn’t to bring it to the surface. But then out of nowhere, Andrea’s life goes spiraling. And she doesn’t want anyone to find out all her secrets.
“Always rushing toward tomorrow.”

JLA’s writing as always was phenomenal, but the main thing that drew me into this book was the realness of it. As someone who can relate to Andrea’s sickness, I can honestly say it was definitely real. This book has to be JLA’s deepest, darkest realistic fiction book that she’s written. It has real issues that featured real people. I think I was so invested because I could realte to the anxiety attacks and the insomnia, and I knew what all Andrea was going through.
“Andy, you never have to apologize for using me as a pole. Anytime you want to climb on, you let me know.”

Another thing I liked was obviously Tanner. At the beginning, he was there to annoy the crap out of Andrea of course, but he always had a soft spot for her. He always made sure she was ok, no matter what the situation was. It made me happy that he was someone who was understanding. Especially when the situation was something that he didn’t know too much about. He never once judged her and for that I appreciated him.
“You know, usually the people who smile the most and laugh the loudest are the ones who… suffer the most…”

As for their romance, I wasn’t a fan of it at first. I wanted to say it was a little insta-lovey, but remembering the first book and their flirty banter made me think that it wasn’t so bad. But then when things started getting interesting, there is nothing that they can do to stay away from the other. Until Andrea’s life starts spiraling out of control.
“You’ve fought bravely this entire time, but you’ve lost this fight, […]. The good news is that you haven’t lost the war.”

*SPOILER* I loved that there wasn’t a huge happily ever after in this book. With what the story was about, there’s not always going to be a happy ending in times like this and some people may have needed that reminder. Much like Andrea had to find out.
“Hope that had sparked in my chest now lit a fire and I fanned it, wanting it to burn hot and bright because hope… hope was not the enemy. It was a friends, a savior, Hope was more than a new beginning. Hope was tomorrow, and hope was the symbol that I would get better, that I would undo the bad choices that I’d made, and that I’d made, and that I would never make them again.Hope was more than a chance of redemption. It was the promise of one day finding absolution, of forgiving myself.”

Not trying to be cliche, but this book was something I needed to read before I even knew I needed to. Having a character who can relate to my anxiety and insomnia and what seemed like many other things. I’ve had many other characters that I could relate to, but this one seemed so personal and so true. It was great to see something that’s normally kept as a secret put on for all the world to see.
Overall, I give this
