*MY THOUGHTS*
This was… weird. I had no idea what to expect besides the crazy lady in the mirror lol But it all turned out good. Spooky and everything, I enjoyed this.
So it was good, but the only thing that I didn’t enjoy was the pacing. It took a little too long to get to the meat of the plot. And then when they finally started to get to the mystery, the answers took too long to get through. It didn’t stop me from listening, but it did stop me from being as engaged as I would normally have been. Especially since I knew who it was by like halfway too. Idk that point just annoyed me.
The spooky part was ok, but I wished it could have been faster in the plot too. I guess that could be a me thing tho because I was anticipating it being scary, but it was mostly just the ghost trying to make sure they weren’t forgotten. I won’t say more because spoilers, but you still get it. That ghost was so good! I wish that we had more time with them because lordt they weren’t creepy, but they were like mean. And rightfully so. They just wanted justice, and let me just say, they deserved to get it.
I had to keep reminding myself that this was set in 1947 tho. It felt more like it was a contemporary read. Not because the details were bad, but because they were so good? Like everything that she brought up was stuff that we have in the present that I had no idea was that old lol I don’t want to say what all I looked up, but just know it confused me lol Which I guess brings me to the rest of the setting. The purpose of the Harrow House was some bullshit. I am so glad they got out of there. And for them to be so upset about closing down? Yeah that made me mad. Becasue you shouldn’t have opened that in the first place.
This had some quirks and some weird places, but for the most part, it was good. The plot was good, but I think the writing style could have used a tiny bit more umph if that makes sense. I wanted to see more description about historical stuff since it was 1947. Not a lot of bad, but it did add up to me.
