This Week’s Theme: On the Grid Iron
Football season is back this week! Last week was my frat brother’s first game of the season! So I felt it was only right to celebrate them. Those boys have been working hard all summer and it’s time to show everyone what they’ve been doing. So to celebrate I chose YA books with a focus on football. This one I’m about 3/4 through, but I am enjoying it. In this one there’s friends to lovers, there’s football (and there’s ACTUALLY football) and it has a kind of love triangle that has one boy she is falling for and the other that can’t take no for an answer lol I really like this one so far. I love that it’s dual POV because we get to see football through his helmet. I love it so much! You don’t have to actually pick up both, but there is a major spoiler at the beginning. But if you’ve never read it, you won’t exactly know what you’re missing. So basically in short…..Just read both of them lol Don’t want you missing anything if you don’t have to you know? lol
This one was a wild one lol I haven’t read a sci fi novel in a long time, so this one was a good one to start with because it’s not really science heavy. For the most part they mention that there’s experiments being done and they say a few terms, but for the most part it’s like a cozy sci-fi. In this one the main character changes her golden retriever into a teenage boy. His first day as a human he catches a football with his teeth and showed that he could run like the wind. Soon after he’s playing on the field every game. It was a hot mess as you could expect. I felt bad for the MC tho because there was some bad stuff going on in school and people were mean to her at lunch… She lost her only true friend, her dog during all of this. And that ending had me shook. I wanted to jump through the damn book. Because what do you mean that one scene had me crying my eyes out? I’m not sure if I should put that in the Content Warnings or not ugh
