*MY THOUGHTS*
This had it’s moments, but it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. I think I wanted more girl power and she just didn’t have it. But the plot and everything was really good. I just didn’t like the MC. She needed the lesson she had at the end wayyyy at the beginning.
Ok so the characters were just meh. I didn’t care for her because she was like pulling the ladder up behind her when it came to the little girls watching her. I didn’t like that. Like why in the world would you not want to help those that come after you? I guess it’s me as a Black person, but it was just weird. I don’t like things like that. It just felt weird af. She didn’t want to seem different, but she was. I hated that it took all that for her to finally see why she needed to accept things the way they were. The romance was cute, but it wasn’t life altering. They were just fighting the whole time as expected since it was a workplace or enemies to lovers type romance.
The plot and writing style were good tho. I could stop reading it. It was a basic sports romance, but with sports romance being my favorite subgenre, I can assure you I wasn’t complaining at all lol This was actually a good time. I liked that she didn’t have shit handed to her, but I also hated that they treated her different than the boys. This shit was good, but it really showed what a misogynistic hot mess a woman in sports is.
The information about the sport and her in the car tho was really fucking cool. I loved it. I don’t know much about F1, but I had to read this. And I can definitely say I was impressed af with the way she was driving, racing, and holding her own. Especially with those assholes. I really liked this part of it. It made the part of her being weird a little ok
This was ok, but I didn’t “drop everything now and read it” love it if that makes sense. It wasn’t my favorite, but a not my favorite sports book is still more than romance book in any other subgenre lol I hope y’all go pick this up and let me know what you think of the MC!
