An Ode to Sports Romance…

So if you didn’t know, August is actually Romance Awareness Month! It was created by “Eileen Buchheim to act as a mid-year check-in for relationships, proving that romance should not be saved for just one day a year.” And the bookish world has adopted Read a Romance Month. With that being said, I wanted to make sure I took the time out to shout out my favorite sub-genre…. Sports Romance!

I’m a sports story lover in general, so it’s no surprise that my favorite is sports romance. It’s just something about the way the stakes seem higher when there’s an Olympic trial with it, or on the last 4 curves of a race track. And now that we’re getting more than football and hockey, it makes it even better! There’s so many more to choose from, like rugby, tennis, F1, baseball, pickleball, track, cheerleading, volleyball, BOWLING, rowing, and more. It’s all so good! I’ve been collecting them like they’re Poekmon so I can come back later and read them all! Here’s some that I have added to my TBR

TBR!:

Reading Room Radio!

If you want to know some that I’ve read and loved, go check out what I had to say on my library system’s podcast, Reading Room Radio! You’ll see some sports romance from me, a different feature of contemporary romance, with disability as a focus, Horrormance, Historical Romance, and a Sci Fi Romance. I’m sure you can think of the books I chose…. I have been talking about them non-stop. (Don’t have time to listen to the podcast? See all of our picks here!) One is football and one is volleyball. I had to do Big Girl Blitz because Jaz reminded me so much of me and she has the same love of ball that I do. And because of my man Lamar. (Obviously) I also chose Smash or Pass because it was the sweetest story! The two of them were so cute and trying to push each other away and they just couldn’t. Their first kiss was adorable. This sapphic romance was so sweet and hella adorable.

With that Being Said…..

………….Publishers if you have a sports romance and you want it read and reviewed, pleaseeeeee send it to me! I would love to! (Bonus points if it’s diverse in some way! lol) I don’t even care what the sport is. And I also don’t care what’s going on in the sport story. Like if the main character is a coach or something. Hell, if it’s a sport story in general, I’ll read it and review it LOL Here’s some others that I’ve read and loved before. So tell me what you need and I will do it. Because 8 times out of 10 I want it lol The other times it’s because I’ve either already read it or it’s by a problematic author and I don’t want to read it anyways lol

Which sport are you hoping to read more about? What are some ones that you never thought you’d see? What are some sports you still want to see? Let me know in the comments!
