Dina Soto is used to laying low. Ever since her father confessed to murdering two of his students, Dina’s mom has kept the family on a short leash to avoid drawing any more attention. Told in part through police evidence, the truth of what happened that night unravels alongside long-held secrets. But one thing remains true: Dina is adamant she didn’t do it. *MY THOUGHTS*
When I say I was looking forward to this! And Rose did NOT disappoint. I was so caught up in this I almost forgot to take my guess on who it was! This was everything tho. Probably my favorite book of hers so far. I really need to know what made her think of this. lol Like I said on Goodreads, I love whatever is wrong with her.
Ok so I was a little worried about this because of the Drug Use, but I had a friend read it and tell me there was no one who OD’ed, so it was ok. For the most part it was just teens being little shits lol But yeah, the characters were real. Which wasn’t a super great thing because of the way they treated Dina. But honestly I would say that’s a thing that humans or mean girls would do period. Being mean to someone because they have a connection to the killer isn’t fair.
Even though I was able to guess who it was, it wasn’t until hella late in the book. I was just too immersed in the story to take a guess. So in case you’re wondering, yes it’s still good. The plot, the pacing, just everything was so well put together. Rose put just the right amount of red herrings too. I remember saying out loud, “Girl you gon have to make a statement .Because ain’t no way anyone is going to believe you with all this evidence LOL But man when the plot twist finally got there, please believe me, I yelled it as soon as Dina gor in the back. It was a lot.
The plot twist made me sit and stare at the wall for a while. And again, that’s from someone who even guessed it right away. So please know, if you are going to read this and think you’re going to sleep on time…. Don’t kid yourself. I had to learn the hard way, but I won’t make you do it lol Just prepare yourself.
This was good. I mean for reals. I hope y’all pick this up. Not only was the story entertaining, but so was the mystery and the writning style and everything. I loved this so much. I really hope y’all pick this up because I can’t talk about it as much as I want to because of the spoilers. But please know, I am here when you need to talk it through LOL
