Senior year is in full swing, and Clay’s determined to have a good year filled with friends, theater dreams, and newfound confidence. But when his ex–best friend, Aron, suddenly reappears in his life—and his theater class—it throws a wrench in all of Clay’s plans. Annoyingly, the two are paired up during an improv exercise, and being vulnerable together onstage swirls up all sorts of old, complicated feelings. Even more annoyingly, Aron is acting like there’s nothing weird or confusing about being back in each other’s orbits again. Which is ironic, since Aron was the one who ghosted Clay in the first place.
As their class assignment continues and they spend more and more time together, Clay isn’t sure he can keep his old feelings buried. But can he trust Aron again, after everything they’ve been through?
*MY THOUGHTS*
This was the cutest thing I’ve read this year. Like no lie. I really loved this one. So much so I wanted to read this again as soon as I finished it. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a graphic novel, and I was honored it got to be this one.
The art in this is incredible. I loved it. Usually I will read the panels and then go back and look at the art, but this time I read it and looked at the art all at the same time. I was blowing up the pics and everything. I also loved the color scheme as well. Usually graphic novels have like one or 2 main colors, but this one was colorful and bright. There is a bit of a brown background, and it really makes the colors pop! The red is so beautiful and the mermaid tail both stood out the most to me.
The story itself was so cute. This romance was so real! They were friends to enemies to lovers. But they didn’t even seem like real enemies. I felt so bad that they couldn’t keep the friendship they had alive the whole time. They deserved better than that. I also loved that we got to see every bit of their transition into something more. We got to see both times when the other person started feeling more and realizing that something more was still there. It was the sweetest thing I’ve read this year. I finished it and immediately put it on a wish-list to buy a copy for myself.
I really need y’all to go pick this up because I need more! If not from this couple, then a check in on the friends! This was delightful and I really really need Miles to create some more. Contemporary romance in graphic novel form is apparently my jam. Gimmie 14 of em right now so I can pass them out and get everyone else to read it!
