When Charlotte Bissett discovers a creepy cool book in her school library called Liber de Monstrum, she can’t help but take it home to investigate. Horror has always brought her comfort—as long as it’s safely within the pages of a book.
That night she reads a few pages out loud before going to sleep. And the next day, some really weird things are going on in the small town of Devilfish Bay. There’s snow outside for the first time in years, Charlotte’s favorite teacher is missing, and the new substitute teacher, Miss Fell, is a little strange. She just might be a werewolf!
Charlotte’s worried she made a big mistake reading from the creepy book. She knows it’s up to her to make things right—but to do so, she’ll have to recruit her friends Molly and Griffin to help. But will they even believe her? And if they do, can this new crew of kid monster hunters actually defeat a real werewolf?
*MY THOUGHTS*
This was a perfect book. Legit had so much fun reading this! Everything about this was good. Except the cliffhanger this ends on LOL If y’all don’t listen to me about anything else, listen to me about this one. You’ll love it so pick it up right now!
Ok so like I said, this was so much fun! So the main character was a loner and she was trying her very best to only think about her dad. She didn’t want to think about her ex-besties or her dad’s dates at all. But soon they become hard to ignore. One of her dad’s dates goes missing and her ex-besties are just always there. I was hooked in this story. I couldn’t stop reading it. And the way the lore is introduced was really great too. I liked the way it was a little here and little there. They never come out and say it until they’re actually trying to do something about it. It made the reader hang on to the plot and keep reading a little longer. I thought it was done really well.
Along with that, I LOVED the art. All the colors were vibrant and they were all so colorful. It wasn’t like the mono or duo tone art that artists usually use when illustrating graphic novels. I don’t read enough of the super colorful ones, so this was super fun to do. I also liked the art style itself. They looked so real. And the one panel where the werewolf was changing was so damn cool. I really enjoyed the art a lot. I was glad to have gotten a finished copy. I just wished I had been reading an e-copy so I could zoom in when I wanted to lol
This was the perfect mix of spooky and weird and cute! And the artist got all the panels exactly right! This is one I hope y’all don’t miss when it comes out. This isn’t one to miss. And as for as the cliff hanger and what happens at the end….. Yes I will be impatiently waiting for it to come out. I need it ASAP!
