Being a teenager bites—literally. When a classmate develops a thirst for blood, one girl must confront her secret supernatural past before things turn deadly. Fans counting down the days to the Buffy the Vampire reboot will sink their teeth into this dark and hilarious YA debut.
Her past is back for blood.
My goals for senior year were simple:
     Find a prom dress I don’t hate
Spend as much time as possible with my amazing boyfriend Max (and my even more amazing best friend Sarita)
Maybe try not to flunk history class
     My plans did NOT include:
Babysitting a newborn vampire—who also happens to be Max’s annoying (and annoyingly cute) buddy Ezra
Fighting off my ex-boyfriend—who did I mention is immortal?
And generally worrying about death and blood and mayhem
Turning human was supposed to mean finally getting a second chance at a normal life. But ever since moving to Sunrise Harbor, Florida, nothing has been normal. What’s worse is I actually made friends here. And when my dark past threatens to take it all away, well, being mortal totally sucks.
Award-winning author Darcy Miller makes her YA debut in this wise-cracking and witty entry that brings new blood to your favorite vampire tropes.

*MY THOUGHTS*

This is going to sound terrible, but I’m not a huge fan of vampires anymore. After the Twilight craze and everything was all about paranormal romance and vampires, I wrote them all off. But let me just say, THIS IS NOT THAT! I actually had a lot of fun with this. I laughed, I screamed, I got upset, and yeah, this was goodddd!

OK so the vampire part of this was crazy, but it was just different enough for me to be hella into it. I picked this up because of the title, but the book itself is actually different than what you think it is. And the cover also made me pick it up because it’s cutesy with a thermos of blood LOL So creatively cute! But the funniest part is, while there are some funny parts, a lot of it isn’t super cutesy lol I mean she is helping a new vampire figure it out while she is going through the opposite. The lore was a little confusing, especially at the end, but I thought it was still interesting. I wanted a piece of that stone just for my own protection.

One thing with the classic paranormal romance story that I still love was the romance. And usually I dislike love triangles too, but this was also a bit of a square with the ex boyfriend coming back LOL But also I knew where this was going from the beginning lol I was upset that she was entertaining the one person. (You’ll know who I mean if you read it lol) Also, paranormal romances always make me laugh. This is quite literally the worst time for you to be finding feelings for someone. But it was still cute and I had to know what happened and who she fell for in the end.

Aside from a few weird things at the end, I thought this was pretty fun. Definitely something to pass on to my system librarians as a fun summer read! I hope they put this on displays for SummerWeen as well as Halloween! Can’t wait to see what the teens think about it!

Overall, I give this
