Boss Chicks Village, #2
Source: Netgalley (I received this ALC free from the publisher and Netgalley. This did nothing to influence my review!)
Content Warning: Sexism, Death of a parent
For Readers of: Adult, Audio, Catchy Title, Contemporary Romance, Contemporary, Fantasy, Most Anticipated, Racial/Ethnic Diversity, Realistic Fiction, Rivals to Lovers, Romance, Series/Companion, SportsSports agent Jackie Miles is a petite powerhouse who has built her empire on killer instincts, designer stilettos, and tough skin. Her client roster is legendary, her temper is hotter than Georgia asphalt, and aside from her French bulldog PeeWee and her “boss chick village,” she’s perfectly content flying solo.
Then Antonio Steele walks back into her life, and all hell breaks loose.
The towering former football star turned rival agent has always known exactly which buttons to push. Just when Jackie thinks she can handle their explosive chemistry and complicated past, she mysteriously loses her voice. But this isn’t ordinary laryngitis; a cryptic stranger’s message implies that Jackie must “quiet her tongue and listen with her heart” to lift whatever spell she’s under. With a career-defining client trip to Mexico looming, and only the devastatingly handsome Antonio as backup, Jackie must learn to let go-if only she could trust him to catch her.
Struck Speechless is book two in the Boss Chicks Village Series, following the hit romcom Losing Sight.
*MY THOUGHTS*
When I saw there was another book in this series I couldn’t wait to put it in my hands. I knew this was going to be another banger. Tati does not miss y’all! And sure enough, I liked it so much I told my mom about it LOL
Ok so the first thing I liked about this was the characters. I loved Antonio but me and him didn’t see eye to eye in every situation. If you know me, you know I have a phobia of something and he had the opposite problem LOL And listen I am not yucking anyone’s yum, but I cannot. That shit made me cringe every time LOL (It’s the thought of them sweating and being trapped in something super enclosed all day…. I just can’t ew) But other than that, he was alright with me lol He made up for it in many other ways. And the way he was bending her and snacking on her like she was a pretzel? yeah that wouldn’t have been enough for me to let him go either lolol And Jackie was pretty cool. I just didn’t think she learned anything lol She was still talking shit at the end of the book LOL But that showed me she was exactly who she said she was the whole book. And for that I admired the hell out of her. Also I loved that she was over 40 and that she was still as every bit as sassy as I’m sure she was in her 20’s.
The pacing of this was so weird but it worked? Like they just kept going out of town and falling into bed together and that’s it lol But even still she wasn’t ready to admit anything so he just annoyed her until the next time they did it. But Idk, I liked it? The repetitive nature kind of like solidified their relationship. Because it felt real life. But I did think the time before she couldn’t talk too long. She almost ruined everything she had coming to her lol
I really liked the friend turned family group as well. I loved them last time and this one was even better. Because they were not afraid to tell Jackie that she was doing the most. And any friend that can tell you that and you trust it, that’s family. I’m glad she had them and they had her.
This was another banger to add to the series. I think I liked Losing Sight more, but only slightly. I hope there’s most in this series. Even with the one with all the kids lol I need them all!
Overall, I give this
