For Readers of: Adventure, Audio, Fantasy, Sparkly Covers, Irregular Timeline, Romance, YAA gripping speculative romance about one girl saving her first love’s life by falling for the last person she ever should – his best friend.
Nieve Monroe is devastated after her boyfriend Carter dies saving her from drowning. Even worse she blames herself for his death… and so does his best friend, Max. He was there with them on that fateful day, and he’s never liked Nieve.
Unable to pull herself from her grief and wanting to hide from the accusation in his eyes, Nieve goes to stay with her grandmother, who has always had strange stories to tell of uncanny happenings, of magic and make believe. The next morning, Nieve wakes up on the first day of college, the year before.
This time she plans to make sure Carter never follows her into that river. She’ll do everything in her power to keep him safe, even if it means losing him in other ways. But the more distance she puts between her and Carter, the closer she gets to Max, drawn to him in ways she never expected.
But is she betraying Carter if the only way she can save him is to move on? And can she ever forget her past to embrace her future?
Kristin Dwyer’s In Time With You is a heartbreaking story of first love, loss, and one chance to change everything.
*MY THOUGHTS*
This wasn’t something I thought I would like. But I knew me merely picking this up made this one different. I don’t usually even entertain books with time travel, but this one did the trick for whatever reason. And now that I’ve read it, I can honestly say I need to always trust my own judgement because I was right.
So my main reason for not liking time travel books is they seem so repetitive. But this one was so different. There were the repetitive parts, but for the most part a lot of them had different situations. And SHE was different. Everything and her character arc was insane! She loved him even when he was with someone close to her. Watching her finally get who he wanted and her finally let go and be who she was supposed to be at the end of the story was nothing short of magical.
The thing I didn’t like tho was the love interest. I hated that he was always there but he was mad at HER. Because why? Why not be mad at his bestie? He knew every secret he had. Why not be mad at him. And if not, why not tell her? Say something. It seems like misogyny to me. I would have loved to see that happen in at least one of those universes. She deserved that much. Which of course made the romance weird to me. I didn’t love it, but I was ok with the final
This book was good and I’m more shocked than anyone that I enjoyed it so much when it’s so far outside my comfort zone. And honestly, I love that. Truly opened my eyes that any book and any genre can be for you as long as you give it a real chance.
Overall, I give this
