Ella was supposed to have fun night with her friends until a crippling headache tied to a recent diagnosis cancels her plans and leaves her babysitting her cousin instead.
But when she arrives at the house, she immediately knows something is wrong. The lights are off and the door is wide open. But it’s the creeping smell coming from the house that warns Ella of the real danger inside: a gas leak.
In a panic, Ella charges into the house and calls 911. Her aunt and cousins lie unconscious on the floor—and Ella can’t rescue them all.
As Ella tries to recover from the tragic accident, deadly lies begin to seep through the cracks of the investigation, and Ella’s side effects escalate. She’ll soon discover the gas leak might not have been an accident after all—and that someone might be out to kill her next.
*MY THOUGHTS*
Ayo I knew what this book was about and at the end I still was surprised by it. This was crazy from beginning to end. I guessed who it was, but even still, I loved this. It was crazy good.
Ok so the characters were kind of basic. They all felt guilty that this happened and they all were so obviously upset about this situation. But the main character also has a chronic illness (brain tumor) as well, so this made everything significantly hard to see what was real and what wasn’t. This was a wild ride. Kind of reminded me of what happened in her first book tho. That’s why I gave it a half star off. Well that and because I figured out who it was. But that part is also a little obvious…. But I wonder if that was the point…. Because of something that I can’t name because it’s a spoiler lol
The plot never stops moving either. This was an actual thriller. Some of those events I just kept saying, “NOPE. NOPE. NOPE.” lolol I haven’t been this freaked in a long time. Gas leaks are nothing to play with and I think that one little thing made me nervous throughout the entire book lol That one event really is a catalyst for the rest of the book. Although I have no idea why she was so gungho on trying to find out who it was when this is so dangerous. Maybe I’m scared, but I would have just bothered the police until they did something lol
The mystery was so good. Almost everyone (and I do mean almost everyone) could be blamed. I found myself actually writing in my notes every time some thing happened. Like I was really trying to solve the case. And the police? Lordt can we say useless? If I could have, I would have blamed them too lol But again, those are the mysteries I love more than anything. But even still, I did guess who it was. But I need y’all to let me know if y’all do too. So if you’ve read this or plan to, please let me know if you guess it too.
I know this review probably made no sense whatsoever, but I can’t say I’m sorry. I don’t want to give any spoilers. Just know that you’ll more than likely be like me and want to binge read this, so clear your schedule. You won’t want to have anything to tear you away from this one!
Overall, I give this
