The highly anticipated sequel to the instant #1 NYT bestseller Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy, an inventive and suspenseful fantasy by superstar author Angie Thomas.
All of Nic’s dreams have come true at last.
After years of living in hiding as a Remarkable in the Unremarkable world, Nic has everything she’d ever wanted: a big family, a forever home (in the magical city of Uhuru!), and, finally, a chance to learn the Gift at Manifestor school. And she’s hailed as a hero after finding the Msaidizi, a long-lost ancient magical weapon.
     So life is perfect, right?
Well, except that her favorite author wants her dead, and a terrifying secret prophecy threatens her future. And Nic still can’t wield the Gift like other twelve-year-old Manifestors, which scares her. But then a bizarre encounter makes these problems seem as serious as a stubbed toe. She’s given a deadly ultimatum: Find the Book of Anansi or put her family’s life in peril. There’s just one tiny complication: Not only does no one know where the book is—they don’t even believe it exists…

*MY THOUGHTS*

This is one of the books that I was waiting on Fall for. Yes even though the title is The Book of Anansi, I was waiting on this for a long time after the ending of the last one. And this book did not disappoint! I think I liked this one more than the first one.

Ok so the characters in this were the ones that had me going crazy. The grandma! Yeah I’ll just say that to avoid spoilers, but I didn’t like her from the beginning. And then there was the her mom and dad. They both had reasons for doing what they did, but there was no reason they should have made her feel like it was her fault. And of course I can’t forget about Nic and her crew themselves. Wth you mean y’all just been getting up and going to all these different places and making people think you’re in one place when you’re really in another one. They were bad af lol

And of course I liked the culture and plot of this. I swear Angie thought of everything! From the HBCU to the D9 like houses at the school, to the differnet story boxes of Anansi, and so much more. Not only was it a beautiful tribute to Black culture, but the way it was weaved into magic AND modern magic/technology, it was just really amazing. Angie Thomas is a hell of a writer.

But I think the coolest part about this was the way the magic and modern tech merged. The way she was supposed to take her test?! That was crazy cool. I found myself trying to decide what I would have done as well. And then trying to get the information from her grandma and her assistant, and the hacker, it was all crazy. I also still can’t believe that all of this was happening. It really felt like there was no way out. And that’s why I didn’t rate it higher. I don’t feel like anything was taken care of? BUT it did end on a cliffhanger, so I can’t be THAT mad, but still.

This was a lot of fun! And after that ending, I can only imagine that it will get more exciting in the next installment. I hope there’s more than just one more lol I love this series and I love to recommend it to my librarians to recommend to patrons!

Overall, I give this
